A Georgia judge has thrown out a law requiring voters to show government-issued identification at the polls, citing that it would disenfranchise citizens who are otherwise qualified to vote. The judge, T. Jackson Bedford, cited the Constitution of the state of Georgia in making his decision.

Whatever Congress attempts to set down, in their attempt to keep their jobs by hook or by crook, will ultimately also end up in the court system, which will strike those laws down as unconstitutional.

I hope these are not the same people who cried voter fraud when Bush won both presidential elections.

a BS argument if the ID's are free. If they cost money he may be on at least arguably sound grounds. It will go to the state supremes and since it involves federal elections, probably to the US Supreme court after winding through the federal district and appellate courts

Ha ha ha ha!

Today the House passed their own national show an photo ID voting bill. If the Senate does the same which is likely then all these legislating judges at state levels will have to go back to their liberal monkeywrenching buddies and plead to the Supreme Court which is not likely to go anywhere. I began listened to all the liberal whining on the House debates this afternoon before the vote and after the first couple had to mute the sound. David

True-maybe when you go to vote for congress and senate and president you have to show an ID but if you don't you get an abbreviated ballot with just the county judge, DA, mayor or governors' races

You have to have - HAVE to have - a photo ID to drive a car. You have to have a library card to cjheck out a book from the library. So what the HE!! is wrong with requiring an individual to have a card proving who he/she really is in order to vote in our national election, taking an action that will affect the goverment of the strongest Democratic Goverment in the world? I think that is a little more important than checking out a freakin' library book!

Bottom libe, today it is all about perpetuating the fraud of allowing dead people to vote, allowing felons to vote, and signing up and allowing millions of Illegals to vote, all for the personal and party financial and power gain!

You are not concerned that it was a crippled senior citizen who could not get to the Georgia ID office to get a picture ID? She is the one who brought the suit.

All I asked is what is the problem with having a requirement for a photo ID to vote. If there are cases like this woman, then the goverment would have to make concessions - go to the woman's house or something. The idea of having a photo ID requirement could be worked out somehow. This crippled woman who can't make it to get an ID made is NOT what the politicians and the Illegal Immigration Lobbyists are worried about, though, regarding a requirement which would/could prove citizneship!

This is too much BS!

First, you have to reregister to vote in the first place WITH a valid ID

Second, since you already have SAID ID so what’s the big f22king deal to bring it when voting?

You need a photo ID to buy a gun.
By this reasoning -- that it would disenfranchise citizens who are otherwise qualified to own a gun -- the requirement to present a photo ID should also be thrown out.

1) Now if the government is willing to go to the woman's home, and the homes of others in the same situation, I could probably live with that, legally speaking. However, this brings up another problem. Who is going to pay for all the extra government workers?

2) Addressing the bold part. They are not too worried about her right to vote either, are they?

Everytime I have registered to vote I have had to show proof of who I am. Why is this unconstitutional?

If she can't get to the office to get an ID how can she get to the polling place to vote?

And the state will come to her to get her her ID.

My mother is blind and has had photo ID's all her life. She has voted all her life. Are you suggesting that because of this one woman we should not make sure everyone who votes is who they say they are, this one woman has that much power to deny us proper election procedures?

You have to show ID to register
She has to show ID to get into a hospital
You have to show ID to board a plane
You have to show ID to check into a hotel
You have to show ID to get welfare benifits.
You have to show ID to get a bank account.
You have to show ID to buy alcohol
You have to show ID to buy tobbacco products
You have to show ID to by a drink in a resturant (or at least have it on you)

Have you really fallen for this bogus attempt to allow voter fraud to continue?

It is not.

The only thing that is illegal is asking for ID when they show up to vote.

I got pulled over in georgia once and the cop asked me for my ID.

I said, "ID? 'Bout wut?" :rofl
