That's why some people (often called "liberals") become very upset with people (often called "conservatives") who dare speak the brutal truth.


President Trump would be less "disliked" today if he tempered his statements.

E.g., he used the term "illegal alien" during the State of the Union.

That is correct, but it is very hurtful to many liberals, who say that no human is "illegal" and the word "alien" seems to imply they come from outer space.

They prefer "undocumented immigrant" or even better simply "migrant." If the President had used those terms instead, he could have lowered the temperature a bit.

Maybe all of us (including the President) should try harder to speak the truth in more gentle ways.

They went from “illegal aliens “, to
“illegal immigrants “, to “undocumented immigrants”, to “dreamers”. Oh yeah, don’t forget the 40 year old “DACA “kids”.

Orwell had no use for politicians in general, nor anyone else whose language amounted to sheer wind.

Everyone now apparently wants to claim him - but in life he fought for the Spanish government (in the International Brigade) in the Spanish Civil War, was shot & nearly died of his wounds, & then had to flee the country (because he noticed that the USSR was taking over the resistance to Franco by all means available, including assassination; & he would not keep quiet about it). Orwell's sympathies lay with the Left - but that wouldn't have stopped him from denouncing the Left, if he saw that they needed to be denounced.

& he returned from Spain a fierce anti-Stalinist, & again, did not hide the fact.
