Did anybody watch the Bush Interview on Hannity?
Please forgive me if this is in the wrong section. Not really sure where to put it. I was thinking political platforms, but in the interview Bush said that he is genuinely wanting just to talk about his father. It was as non-political as you can get.
Here are some highlights:
Both recent Presidents have written about their fathers. While Obama hardly ever knew his, Bush's father lived to see and praised his son becoming President.
Bush has a deep loving relationship with his father.
Bush 41 never wrote a memoir and his story is often overshadowed.
Bush 41 refused to help Bush 43 on major decisions except in an effort to make him laugh, smile or feel loved.
The Bush's don't think of themselves as a dynasty. Each man had different advisers, political beliefs, and were President during different times in History.
The Bush's and the Clintons are actually quite friendly. Bush said that if/when Jeb beats Hilary. His friendship with Bill will remain in tact.
Obama has great admiration for Bush 41. It is unknown if they talk regularly.
Obama has only once called Bush 43 and that was after the Osama Bin Laden raid. He doesn't seek advice from other Presidents. Unlike, any other President.
Another thing I noticed was how humbled Bush 43 was in this interview. I can detect most BS a mile away and I didn't see any of that in the interview. It is easy for me to point out if someone is just trying to sell me a book just to gain publicity, but he just wants to talk about his father. To anyone that would listen.
He seemed reluctant to even answer specific questions about world events like ISIS. He said he was happy to stay out of the limelight because he doesn't like attacking people or the Presidency. He thinks the people have complete control over the electoral process, as proven by the recent Republican wave.
Let me know if I have left anything out. Here is part of the interview. The longest I could find: Exclusive: George W. Bush on growing up in the Bush family | Hannity | Fox News
Actually, Bush wasn't that bad of a guy until he became president. That's when he got conned by the Neocons. He wasn't a bad Governor for Texas, and was well known for reaching across party lines to get things done here. The best thing that Bush did while President was to kick the Neocons to the curb during that last part of his second term. But it was too late. The Neocons ruined any kind of a legacy that Bush might have had, and he will long be remembered as the President who started a war based on lies.
Actually I don't think so. Most people now have a luke-warm feeling about Bush, but that might just be because Obama is dong bad now. The left wing nuts are being drowned out. Bush's legacy will remain intact, as long as he keeps to his message.

Is that really a surprise?
From the parts I have read, Obama's book was not so much about his father as himself and his relationship to a father he never knew. Frankly it read to me like a great big elaborate advertisement saying "like me, like me, I do!"

I've read Obama's book. Unlike most people haha. And towards the end there are two chapters about his father, him meeting him and visiting what he kept referring to as his home in Kenya. Not sure why he does that, but I think it might be the culture from growing up there he thought of it as his home then. If we were to ask him now, he would say something politically appeasing so maybe we have to wait until, 2022 to get any straight answer out of this guy.
The rest of it, was a whole bunch of condescending racist BS that I could barely get through. Also the title Dreams from my Father is related to him meeting his father and being disappointed and let down. I think that's why Obama is not very close with much of his family and has one of the tightest circles in the history of the White House. He didn't have the advice of a fatherly figure. It was always his mother. Now Valerie and Michelle.
This is a large factor in the African American community, and it's shocking why Obama does not ever talk about this, or helps the community out with this issue. It is left up to others to analyze Obama's disappointments with his father and why he has turned his back on the issue.
The Africans I know who live here revere family, a cousin is a brother or sister, and ancestry is not something you express disappointment over.
Confirms the smatterings I've read, Ironically, I just came back from a walk and a used copy of Dreams is on sale for $5.00
Actually that's a good point. Liberals are always saying that the community and working together and tolerance are all necessary important things. Heck, Obama even started as a community organizer. Though, he shows deep love for his children and Michelle, why doesn't the community organizer, have a close working relationship with his rather large and extended family? Most of the other presidents have close relationships with their extended family, but even Obama's brothers are not privy to his lifestyle.
I have always felt that was rather odd. He has relatives that are the poorest of the poor. I remember watching an interview with one of them on Fox News, and I swear the guy wasn't wearing any shoes. But that might just be the culture in Kenya. He also has some Uncle or something that runs a liquor store in NYC. His relatives are always humble and when asked questions about Barack, they always say he is too busy to keep in contact with them. Or that he has the important job of running the country. Those may be courted answers however. As I would be mad if one of my relatives never invited me to the White House if they became President. Obama if he cared about those people in his family should be out there parading them around, then after the fact. They should say these things about him. It seems like he just ignores most of his extended family and never even attempts to or try to help them out.
EDIT: Ok it wasn't no shoes, but it was a shed: Obama's slumdog brother: Meet the hopeless drunk from a Nairobi shanty town who is the U.S. President's BROTHER | Daily Mail Online
As background, Obama and his half-brother, George, share a biological father, Barack Obama Sr., but have different mothers. The father left when Obama was 2 years old, and he was raised by his mother and maternal grandparents in the U.S. and, for a few years, in Indonesia. George grew up in Kenya.
Neither had their father as much of a presence in their lives. The two met briefly when George, who is about 20 years younger than Barack, was very young. After the Italian Vanity Fair story was reported, a CNN correspondent caught up with George Obama and interviewed him on camera. When asked about the brouhaha about his economic situation, he said that the media reports made him angry, adding:
George Obama: I was brought up well. I live well even now. The magazines, they have exaggerated everything … There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you [the reporter] come from, there are the same challenges.

Kobie, I wonder how "living well" in Kenya compares to living well as POTUS?
I think living well there, means actually having a shed! It's worse than Indian IMHO

Do you expect Obama to have his brother, who he barely knows, move into the White House with him?
Obama's relationship with his family is nobody's business but his own, but sure enough, it's gotta become a partisan issue, just like everything else.

Its interesting you say that, his mother in law lives with him, no doubt at great expense to the tax payer. But Obama is a multimillionaire, his brother could probably live like a king in Kenya (the lion king?) for 30K a year. And yet he lives in a shanty and dines on bush meat. Hows that for social justice?
How very public people treat their family members is certainly of interest thoiugh, in this case, I can understand why you would want it to be ignored. But of course you're not complaining for partisan reasons.Do you expect Obama to have his brother, who he barely knows, move into the White House with him?

I sense you've already burst into tears at this unfair treatment of dear President. Quit bawling and and pull yourself together!"Dines on bush meat"? Does your hackery know any bounds at all? Please stop posting in response to me.
