The man is incapable of hiding his racism. At a campaign rally last week, after stating he was "going to run this campaign on positive, constructive ideas," he signaled out a man of Indian decent who works for Jim Webb (the democrat running for the senate) and kept calling him "macaca." First, that is NOT his name. His name is S.R. Sidarth. Second, that word means "monkey" in another language. Here is what Allen said to him:

"This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, macaca, or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent. He's following us around everywhere. And it's just great," Allen said, as his supporters began to laugh. After saying that Webb was raising money in California with a "bunch of Hollywood movie moguls," Allen said, "Let's give a welcome to macaca, here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia."

When Allen was asked why he used that word, he said:

"I don't know what it means." He said the word sounds similar to "mohawk," a term that his campaign staff had nicknamed Sidarth because of his haircut. Sidarth said his hairstyle is a mullet -- tight on top, long in the back.

That doesn't even make sense. Why not use mohawk if that is what he was talking about? George Allen is a d!ck. While this may not have an impact on the racist state of Virginia (while Northern Virginia is democratic--the rural areas with the racists overpower us tolerant North Virginians), I hope it has a very negative impact on his presidential run.

I forgot to point out addtional evidence of Allen's racism. Prior to running for governor in Virginia, he had a Confederate flag outside of his house in Charlottesville. Who waves that kind of flag? Yeah, a racist.

The fact that I am not a racist? Oh goody!

Morning folks, AP, I would like to converse with you on the double standards race plays within society.

I am not taking sides and what that politican emphasized was heedless, but if you only focus on the typical racism within America, you are sending a very partial and bias signal.

I will be on during the day, so please start and allow your constitutional gateway to open with emphasis.

hipster, I am just totally appalled by this. I was disgusted when I read the article in the Washington Post, which is on the front page. What was pointed out was that it would be very unlikely that it would have any impact on the senatorial race, which is incredibly disappointing. I would like to think that Virginians would be embarrassed and horrified by such statements. He says he's going to have a positive campaign and then essentially makes fun of this Indian man?

Well the question now is whether or not this'll have a positive or negative effect to his campaign in Virginia

Lefty, I don't think it will impact his campaign. What makes Virginia a red state are the people who live in the rural areas and they outnumber the more liberal residents. He will lose in Northern Virginia, where the most intelligent people live, but will likely win in the other areas of Virginia. I saw the whole footage last night, and I am incredulous over what he said. I cannot believe how stupid he was; however, when a feeling is so engrained in us, sometimes we don't have the ability to refrain from exhibiting behavior that demonstrates that feeling, which I think is the case here--that Allen is a racist. He didn't know what Macaca means and it was supposed to address his mohawk-like hairstyle? Ummm, I don't think so.

It will, however, impact his campaign when he attempts to run for president. Now that is something that I cannot wait to see. What a stupid fool he is.

Where do you get the racist out of this? He was talking about a single person, a person who is an campaign operative of his Democrat opponent and his explaination was perfectly reasonable. Sounds like he's given the man a nickname based on his haircut and is ribbing him. Get a life people. Even if he meant monkey I call my little grandchild "you little monkey", does that mean I'm racist.

Opponents operative hanging at every campaign stop filming and has a Mohawk haircut and he gets ribbed. Geez people get a grip.

Sure, you don't want to think so because then you wouldn't have this silly issue. But since the left is void on any issues I guess it's all you got.

Man, I'm not flipping my **** about this, but come on! Of course it's racist!

It's POLITICS. The guy is an operative for Allen's opponent. He's there gathering intelligence for the opposition. Allen has every right to rib him and embarass him in front of the audience. If the guy can't take it get another job.

Geez where was the outrage over Biden's recent remarks, is he now disqualfied to run as a Dem, are the standards as high for him?

No wonder you guys lose.

Stinger, tell me you're better than this. You can give him every excuse you want--he is unquestionably a racist. He has given several excuses--one, was that it was another word for mohawk; two, it was that he was doing a combination of mohawk and caca; and three, he did not know what it meant at all. LOL

He was the ONLY senator who defended Trent Lott when he was accused of making a racist remark (but then someone spoke to him and he retracted his defense and said that what Lott said was unacceptable). Racist, racist, racist.

LOL So you just dismiss this because you think it's silly. Oh, and by the way, Allen's mom is from North Africa, which is the area where people use the word Macaca for monkey. He didn't know what it meant? Yeah, my a$$ he didn't know. Stinger, I am so disappointed in you....so disappointed.

Wow, APS. Glad to see that somehow you're an expert on my state. I must've just completely went blind and missed the thousands and thousands of backwoods, racists, gap toothed yokels that must be living around me. GAWHHHHLEE. Got anymore insults you want to throw upon an entire portion of a state while complaining that someone is made a stupid statement that you think insulteded an entire portion of the human population?

And wow. Glad to know you're also apparently an expert on every person that ever had up a confederate flag. Guess my GF that's dated a black guy in the past, has a number of friends and such, and has a ring with the confederate flags due to her southern roots, must be a HUUUUGE Freaking closet racist. I'm sure the half black guy friend of mine in high school that had the flag on a liscense plate cover must've just went home and cursed himself out every day for having such tainted blood. I'm sure EVERY SINGLE PERSON that i've ever seen in all my years of being in the south, HAVE to have all been racists, cause the great APS dubs it so.

So basically, stereotyping white people or southerners is fine by you...cause what, its not a "minority"?

Allen joked on a guy from the opposing campaign that is stalking every event he goes to cause strife for his campaign. Wow, what an inhuman and evli person...i'm sure not a single one of us has ever joked on someone that's acting like an *** or annoying to us before. I'm sure you've never flamed someone or called them stupid on here before aps for getting on your nerves.

Watch the video, he looks like he's just throwing syllables together to kind of sound like something you'd get out of thier language as a stupid little name. Is it slightly racists...maybe, but no more than i think most americans are that are just as likely to make fun of thier OWN type of people as they are of anyone else.

As for the question asking someone if the grandchild they called a monkey was black or middle eastern, i have no clue. I do know a friend of mine I grapple with constantly in karate is middle eastern (lebanese actually), and i've commented before htat watching him move around on the mat he looks like a little monkey. I didn't mean it like a racists, he didn't think it was racists, it just the visual it gave me. but...yeah...omgz! we are both just blind of the fact that I am a racist and since he doesn't mind it, he must be a closet self-hating racists.

I never said I was an expert--what I said is my opinion. If it bothers you, then it bothers you. I stand by what I said, and if you think I am a racist, that is absolutely fine with me.

It's one thing to call a relative or close friend a monkey, but can you tell me that calling some stranger a monkey is somehow a term of endearment? Also, are you failing to acknowledge that Allen has changed his reason for calling him a macaca? First, he had no idea what it meant. Second, it referred to the guy's haircut. Third, he was essentially calling him a shithead and it was a combination of mohawk and caca. His alleged apology is that he is sorry if people misunderstood him. That's not an apology, and I don't think he is genuinely sorry for what he said because it came from his heart.

I'm glad that my opinion has had such an effect on you. It's flattering.

Macaca in French is a slur for dark-skinned people of North Africa. George Allen's French, speaking French mother is from North Africa. :2wave:

Oh yeah, the Confederate flag and noose Allen used to decorate his office is really just a western theme. Uh huh....

What'd Biden say? Sorry, I've been out of town for a week, and so I've missed a lot.

You prove my point.

No man, I see what you're saying, and I agree he had every right to toss a little **** in that guy's direction, but this just so happened to be racist ****, and that is something that you can't ignore.

Where is the racism? People honestly have no idea what racisim is these days.

Stinger, tell me you're better than this.

Tell me you're not this desperate.
You can give him every excuse you want--

He doesn't need an excuse, he was chiding a political operative.

he is unquestionably a racist.

No it's very questionable.

So where was your similar outrage over Biden's remark?

He has given several excuses--one, was that it was another word for mohawk; two, it was that he was doing a combination of mohawk and caca; and three, he did not know what it meant at all. LOL

I think you are confusing them, but then you are desperate to have some vilification of a Republican to subsitute for the lack of issues your side presents. It's understandable.

He was the ONLY senator who defended Trent Lott when he was accused of making a racist remark

Which if course he didn't make and should we bring up the hypocrasy your side showed when it didn't chastize Bill Clinton for similar comments about Fulbright. You know if you are going to take this position you should at least be consistent.

(but then someone spoke to him and he retracted his defense and said that what Lott said was unacceptable).

That's politics, you haven't learned that yet?

The man used to have a Confederate Flag in his house in Charlottesville.

And Bill Clinton defended it in Arkansas.

He had a NOOSE, I believe, in his law office or something like that. What kind of person has a friggen NOOSE? Racist, racist, racist.

Ahhhh what you believe and what is reality are very often at odds.

Do you REALLY think you are going to defeat him because of this. Do you realize how silly it makes all of you look?

aps said:

:rofl your side is acting extremely silly over this but the desperation makes people do silly things.

Oh, and by the way, Allen's mom is from North Africa, which is the area where people use the word Macaca for monkey. He didn't know what it meant? Yeah, my a$$ he didn't know. Stinger, I am so disappointed in you....so disappointed.

So? Even if he knew the word meant that so what? The guy is a political operative for the otherside obviously making a nusense out of himself and Allen ribbed him.

You don't have Rove anymore so this is it? How about some issues. How about Biden if you really want to raise the bar on what candidates say?
