I find it wild that all these "God Bless our Troops" folks refuse to listen when top Military personnel speak out. Neither President Bush voted for Trump, Barbra Bush actively spoke out against him, every living President is voting for Biden. James Mattis speak out against Trump, and yet the Right continues to bury their heads in the sand. I think at this point Jesus Christ himself could part the Cloud and write out "Do not vote for Trump" in lightening and the Conservatives would accuse Jesus of being biased.

"James Mattis, the esteemed Marine general who resigned as secretary of defense in December 2018 to protest Donald Trump’s Syria policy, has, ever since, kept studiously silent about Trump’s performance as president. But he has now broken his silence, writing an extraordinary broadside in which he denounces the president for dividing the nation, and accuses him of ordering the U.S. military to violate the constitutional rights of American citizens."

come on. if a person hasn't figured out that Donald Trump is a massive liar, crook and con man by now they're either touched in the head, so partisan that they can't be saved or some kind of Confederate/Q nut job.

That article is from June 2.

It's still relevant. General Mattis served as Trump's defense secretary for over 2 years. He's seen Trump at work up close. If General Mattis says Trump is threat to the Constitution, Trump is a threat to the Constitution.

First, he hasn't kept silent, and second, the military isn't a cult. Different people have different beliefs, political or otherwise.

Or more than one of the above.

Essential Veterans’ Medication Deliveries sabotaged by Trump and his lackey who directly competes AGAINST the USPS in his private ventures.

A disgruntled guy who didn't get along with any administration ...

"... several weeks later, and without warning, Mattis was handed a note telling him he was being replaced. The president (Obama) hadn’t even bothered to call him, ..."

Or more than one of the above.

Gen. James "Chaos" Mattis joins a bevy of retired military flag officers that have spoken out against Donald Trump.

(Active military personnel cannot involve themselves in political matters)

That, and Mattis is a great man to have around when there is a war to be fought, not so much when there isn't a war.

For all that can be lauded on him for his accomplishments in the field against the enemy, his track record of brokering and keeping the peace is not so great.

He was never able to keep the "peace" without a liberal application of explosives.

Now that you brought up Jesus ...

... it was the Elite of that time, the educated and educators, the interpreters of the law, the "wise priests" who got the unwashed, ignorant masses to call for Jesus' head ... and to let the murderer Barabbas go free in stead.

And 2000 years later, Progressives again are calling for the head of an innocent man while emptying the prisons ...

If General Mattis praised Trump, you would call him a traitor.

He wasn't a diplomat. You have generals specifically for when diplomacy fails.

Absolutely, which is also why you shouldn't take a fighting general's word on constitutional issues.

The only general that readily comes to mind that bridged the gap between diplomacy and war fighting was Douglas MacArthur, but he was also a bit crazy, and only really pulled off the diplomatic feats he did because of perfect storm of conditions where he had a sufficient knowledge of Japanese culture to not fall flat, a quirk in the culture of Imperial Japan where the population just assumed MacArthur was their new king, and his own megalomaniac streak which prevented him from talking them out of the concept.

Patton is another general that comes to mind. He was exactly what was needed when the scrap was on, not so good when the bullets stopped. He was prescient as far as the Soviet Union was concerned, but no diplomat.

Yeah but we've noticed no matter who it is that speaks out negatively about trump, no matter their service to america, becomes an instant enemy who was never such a good person anyway.

You folks on the right demonize anyone who speaks out about trump.

Right, his solution to the Soviets would have been a longer war, and nobody but Stalin had the stomach for that.

But Germany is a good counter point to the MacArthur methods in Japan. Te German culture had no such assumption that the Americans or the Russians were, by default, their new Emperor. The Soviets coerced them to that position and the US helped them establish their own government.

But none of that was done by the generals. In Japan MacArthur ran the post-war show, much to the dismay of Washington.

One exception would, ok two, George Marshall and to a lesser degree DD Eisenhower.

Mixing political and military themes...

True. Though I think of them more as diplomatic/political generals since at that level it is pretty much all politics and diplomacy.
