JERUSALEM (AFP) — A rocket fired by Palestinian militants from the Gaza Strip exploded in southern Israel on Saturday, but there were no casualties or damage reported, the Israeli army said.
It is the third rocket attack since ceasefires on January 18 brought an end to Israel's three-week onslaught against Hamas-ruled Gaza which left more than 1,330 Palestinians dead.
The rocket was fired from the north of the Gaza Strip and landed in a field near the city of Ashkelon, the army said.

An Israeli border soldier was also killed post-ceasefire with an IED. Hamas agreed to this ceasefire... and has already violated it.

That's a pathetic dodge Pete....It states "Palestinian", not Hamas. There is no evidence that it was rockets ordered or sanctioned by Hamas.
But the ceasefires were eventually going to get broken, they were structured with no negotiations.
A > The crap hits the fan
B > The world demands a ceasefire
C > A temporary lull in the fighting
D > The world no longer gives a crap
E > Return to A
That's a pathetic dodge Pete....
As the - government/military/police force - of Gaza, Hamas is ultimately responsible for its own actions... and the actions of Gazans in regards to ceasefire violations and aggression against a sovereign neighbor.
You blaming Hamas is a typical pathetic demonizing of a group without no proof. Sure they are terrorist scum, but there is zero proof that they were involved.
You know very well that the structure of the Palestinian resistance is fragmented into various groups, where Hamas is one that is a bit more powerfull. Hamas is just one of those groups, and just because Hamas "won" over Fatha in Gaza does not mean that they control the area 100%... especially with their infrastructure destroyed by the IDF over the last many months.
Lets change the names and put IDF instead of Hamas. If we are suppose to use your definition, then every settler attack against any Palestinian is sanctioned and known beforehand by the IDF and the political bosses in Tel Aviv and hence the responsibility of the Israeli government..any and all attack by any crazy settler... are you willing to accept that?
Not even the IDF and the civilian Israeli government has that much control over its own people and Israel has a well defined political, social, legal and military structure, and you expect the Palestinians to be better than Israel and not only control everything, but have full knowledge of everything happening in their territory, and yet have no well defined political, social, legal or military structure...............
Unless Hamas admits it was them, or the IDF can prove that it was Hamas, then I am sorry, but the closest you can claim is that rockets were shot from the Palestinian area by persons unknown... Should Hamas attempt to prevent the firing of rockets? You bet, but a bit hard when your political and military infrastructure is no better than an early 20th century banana republic.
So yes the rockets must stop, but blaming Hamas for everything that is happening is just wrong and counter-productive. What is next, blaming them for the blocked sewer in a Northern Israeli town, or that your cats peed all over the place?

Pete, I can tell you are upset about this but letting your love of terrorists cloud your judgement...my, my, my. Hamas is the poster child of terror in the region so lets be real. Go give Laila a hug, I bitched her out earlier for being an EU liberal whinert.

Who the hell else could be responsible?
The government of Fiji?
wtf
You sound like a Hamas lover. It states "Palestinian", not Hamas. There is no evidence that it was rockets ordered or sanctioned by Hamas.

Believe it or not, I agree with all of your points above.Damn. Look at me. I am debating myself. Who is going to win this debate? Me or me? Vote now.
:kissy:To Tashah - God bless.

I would like some hate paint thrown on me too, please. For I agree with Pete.
That wasn`t hate paint,it was what kind of stupid are you ? No matter who fired the rocket, the powers that be get the blaim and Gaza gets the counter attack. Counter, Counter, Counter...Boom,...Boom,...Boom. If the terrorists are upset about Israels counter attacks, they should think twice about breaking cease fire agreements. Stop being a whiney little appologist for Hammas, you look stupid.
Al Jazeera English - Middle East - Olmert announces Gaza ceasefireDespite Israel's self-declared ceasefire, Hamas officials said they would not stop fighting until Israeli troops withdrew. "If the Israeli military continues its existence in the Gaza Strip, that is a wide door for the resistance against the occupation forces," Osama Hamdan, a Hamas official in Lebanon told Al Jazeera. Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip, said: "The Zionist enemy must stop all its aggression, completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip, lift the blockade, and open the crossings. We will not accept the presence of a single soldier in Gaza."
Al'Jazeera reports (FWIW) that Hamas did not agree to this ceasefire:
