Masked Palestinian gunmen killed a top intelligence official loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and four of his bodyguards in Gaza City not far from PM Haniyeh's home

Reuters Published: 09.15.06, 16:00

Masked Palestinian gunmen killed a top intelligence official loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and four of his bodyguards in a shooting on Friday near the Gaza home of Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas, residents said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the drive-by shooting, which killed Colonel Jad Tayeh, a senior official in the General Intelligence service in Gaza, and his men in their car.

Residents said the car was riddled with bullets.

The shooting took place in the Beach refugee camp near Haniyeh's heavily guarded compound.

Gaza has been beset by sporadic bouts of violence between rival factions, including Fatah and the ruling Hamas movement.

The General Intelligence service is controlled by Abbas.

There was no suggestion of Israeli involvement.

Haniyeh reached an agreement earlier this week with Abbas on forming a coalition government aimed at ending an international aid embargo and halting violence among Palestinians.

Palestinian PM's guards fire in the air after hundreds of Authority employees try to block Haniyeh's entrance to Mukataa. Fatah decides not to take part in parliament meeting in protest of Hamas' violent reaction

Hundreds of government employees protested outside the Palestinian parliament compound on Monday, and succeeded in bringing to a suspension of the Legislative Council's session that was set to take place at the time.

The meeting was set to focus on the situation in the Palestinian Authority, and include a speech by Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh. However, upon the PM convoy's arrival at the complex, protesters attacked the vehicles in a bid to prevent Haniyeh from entering the Mukataa.

In response, the PM's bodyguard fired in the air in order to disperse the strikers. According to eyewitnesses, the guards also beat up several of the strikers.

A Fatah parliament member claimed that she too was beaten by Haniyeh's guards. Consequently, the faction decided to suspend its participation in the meeting, this despite the fact that the faction has presented a parliamentary question to the Palestinian internal minister on the issue of the deteriorating security situation and the pervasive anarchy in the PA, which was set to stand at the heart of the discussions.

Hamas, on its part, condemned the attack on Haniyeh's convoy and demanded that the elements behind the "shameful and immoral incident" be investigated, claiming these elements had planned to break up the session. The group called on the Palestinian people to beware of those who seek to increase tension and incitement against the government, whom Hamas says are led by Israel and the United States.

6 Palestinians killed in Jericho prison

Gunmen disguised as police officers infiltrate prison, assassinate prisoners suspected of collaborating with Israel

Ali Waked Published: 08.04.06, 17:35

BEI103_a.jpg

Security sources in the West Bank said that Palestinian gunmen dressed in police uniforms on Friday broke into a prison in the West Bank city of Jericho and shot dead six Palestinian inmates.

Ynet has learned that the gunmen were looking to avenge the death of two activists, residents of Nablus, who were assassinated by the IDF a few years ago. Some of those incarcerated in the prison are suspected of cooperating with Israel in the assassinations, while other prisoners are suspected of attacking the gunmen’s family members in response to the execution of collaborators’ relatives.

The disguised gunmen arrived at the prison in a police squad car, fooling the prison guards who immediately opened the gate. The gunmen then entered the cell in which the prisoners were kept and opened fire, killing five of the prisoners they suspected of collaboration with Israel and another prisoner who was sharing a cell with them.

A senior Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades member told Ynet that the organization decided to execute the collaborators after the Palestinian Authority refrained from doing so for more than year.

The senior member said the prisoners assisted the IDF in the assassination of Sheikh Hussein Farj and his brother Ali, both senior Fatah members from the Nablus area.

The two were killed just a short while after another senior Fatah member, Tayal Farj, was also killed by the IDF.

The incident was not the first in which gunmen entered a prison and executed collaborators or those suspected of cooperating with Israel. Similar incidents have taken place mainly in Gaza, and in the past year a number of prisoners have been killed in this manner.

Palestinian organizations have demanded that the Authority execute suspected collaborators and have threatened to take the law into their own hands if it failed to do so.

Following a number of raids on PA prisons President Mahmoud Abbas decided to transfer the collaborators’ cases to the Mufti, so that he may authorize their execution; a number of prisoners suspected of collaborating with Israel have indeed been executed in the past few months.

Fatah's al-Aksa Martyr's Brigades threatened Monday night to kill all of Hamas's leaders, including Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh as well as Hamas Politburo chief Khaled Mashaal.

In a message sent to news agencies, the group said that it considered Mashaal, Interior Minister Sayid Siam and another high-ranking member of the ministry, Yosef al-Zahar, responsible for the deaths of Palestinians killed over the last two days during Hamas-Fatah clashes.

Eleven Palestinians were killed and more than 150 were wounded in fierce clashes that erupted between supporters of Hamas and Fatah over the past 48 hours in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

The violence, the worst of its kind since the establishment of the Palestinian Authority more than a decade ago, followed allegations by Hamas leaders that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah party were planning a coup against the Hamas-led government.

Most of the casualties were reported in the Gaza Strip. One person was killed and two were wounded in a battle between Fatah and Hamas Monday night in Rafah, a day after nine people were killed and dozens were injured during heavy fighting between the two parties on Sunday.

On Monday, the violence spilled over to the West Bank, where a Palestinian was shot to death in Jericho and six others were wounded by gunfire in Nablus. In addition, several PA institutions and Hamas-run organizations were set on fire, including the offices of the PA Prime Minister in Ramallah.

Fatah officials strongly condemned the Hamas-led government, holding it responsible for the outbreak of the violence. The officials urged Abbas to fire the government and to declare a state of emergency to prevent an all-out confrontation with Hamas.

The violence began on Sunday morning, when several hundred Fatah-affiliated policemen took to the streets in the Gaza Strip to protest unpaid salaries for the third consecutive day. The policemen stormed the Bank of Palestine branch in Gaza City and set it on fire.

Ignoring warnings by Hamas's Interior Minister, Said Siam, that he would use force to disperse the protesters, the policemen, backed by scores of Fatah gunmen, went on a shooting spree in the streets and blocked main highways.

As the protests intensified, Siam ordered the 3,000-strong "back-up" force of the Interior Ministry to quell the protests, claiming that the demonstrations were politically motivated with the aim of undermining the Hamas-led government.

In scenes reminiscent of the Lebanese civil war in the 70's and 80's, the confrontation quickly turned into street gun battles, with both sides using automatic rifles, pistols and hand-propelled grenades. At least three of the casualties were identified as innocent passersby, including 15-year-old Hassan Abu al-Hatel.

The clashes subsided by nightfall as the rival parties heeded calls by Egyptian security mediators to declare a cease-fire. Abbas and PA Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also appealed for calm and promised to launch an investigation into the armed clashes.

At the request of Abbas and the Egyptians, Hamas agreed to withdraw its "back-up" force from the streets and public squares - a move that contributed to easing tensions between the two sides. On Monday the situation in the Gaza Strip remained very tense, but no major incidents were reported.

Khaled Abu Hilal, spokesman for the PA Interior Ministry, said his ministry was determined to crush "rebellious" elements in the PA security forces. "We will chase them wherever they are," he vowed, claiming that "outside forces" were responsible for the deterioration.

Hamas leaders repeated charges that the mutiny in the PA security forces was part of a plot designed to bring down the Hamas-led government. "We strongly condemn the acts of sabotage perpetrated by a tiny minority of Palestinian policemen," said a statement issued by the Hamas leadership in Gaza City. "These thugs are using the issue of unpaid salaries as a cover for staging a coup against the legitimate government. We will not remain idle in the face of these suspicious and well-planned attempts."

In the West Bank, where Hamas has a smaller presence, Fatah gunmen and PA policemen attacked with firebombs several institutions and offices belonging to Hamas. Leaflets distributed by Fatah's armed wing, the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, called on all their gunmen to launch attacks on Hamas institutions and figures.

Hamas's Minister for Prisoners' Affairs, Wasfi Kabaha, was briefly detained by Fatah gunmen who stormed his home in Jenin. A Hamas deputy minister in the Ministry of Finance was also snatched by Fatah gunmen, who also fired several shots at the Nablus home of Deputy Prime Minister Nasser Eddin Shaer.

On Monday, more clashes erupted in Nablus between Fatah and Hamas gunmen. Local sources said at least six people were injured, including two of Shaer's bodyguards.

The internecine fighting was accompanied by an unprecedented war of words between Hamas and Fatah leaders. "This government poses a real threat to the safety of the Palestinians," said Ahmed Abdel Rahman, a top aide to Abbas. "The government is unable to carry out its responsibilities because it is leading us from one failure to another."

Ziad Abu Ain, a senior Fatah operative in Ramallah, threatened to "pursue" all Hamas leaders and representatives who supported their government's decision to prevent the protests by force. "They are all responsible for the crime that occurred on black Sunday," he said. "We will chase them wherever they are unless they openly condemn what their government did."

PA Officials said Abbas, who spent the past two days in Jordan, is expected to return to Ramallah on Tuesday for urgent consultations with his advisors on the latest crisis. Abbas's media advisor, Nabil Amr, said he did not rule out the possibility that Abbas would declare a state of emergency and form a new government consisting largely of technocrats. "I believe that this would be the best solution for the crisis," he said. "I have heard some Hamas leaders talk in favor of such a government."

Hamas leader killed in Kalkilya shooting

Violence between Hamas and Fatah resumed Wednesday morning as Muhammad Uda, a local Hamas leader, was shot to death as he was exiting morning prayers at a mosque in the village of Hableh near the West Bank Palestinian town of Kalkilya.

Uda, 37, said witnesses, was shot by three masked men who fired from a passing vehicle.

Al-Aksa threaten to kill Hamas heads

The vehicle, said the witnesses, had an Israeli license plate. It was not clear who was responsible for the shooting. The IDF said it was not involved.

On Tuesday Hamas responded to Fatah threats by saying that any attempt to harm its leaders would lead to an all-out confrontation with Fatah. It said political assassinations would prompt it to resort to "scorched earth" tactics.

The rival parties on Tuesday observed an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire, and no major incidents of violence were reported. However, Fatah gunmen in Nablus set two vehicles belonging to Hamas institutions on fire. No casualties were reported.

The warning came in response to a leaflet distributed late Monday night by Fatah's Aksa Martyrs Brigades, which called for "executing" Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, Palestinian Authority Interior Minister Said Siam and Youssef al-Zahar, the commander of the 3,000-strong Hamas "back-up" force in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas legislator and spokesman Mushir al-Masri described the authors of the leaflet as "agents of the Zionist occupation." He said the threats were issued by a "hired gang that claims to be a nationalist force, but is in fact helping the Zionist occupation achieve what it had failed to achieve... This leaflet reflects the moral and political decline of this suspicious gang."

He repeated charges that the latest crisis in the PA territories was part of a well-planned attempt by some Fatah leaders to stage a coup against the Hamas-led government.

"We call on the leaders of this mutiny not to get involved in political assassinations and to refrain from attacking Hamas institutions and figures in the West Bank and Gaza Strip," he said.
Fatah leaders sought to distance themselves from the leaflet, stressing that they were opposed to political assassinations.

"We are strongly opposed to political assassinations from all sides," said Muhammad Hourani, a Fatah spokesman in the West Bank. "Political assassinations and violence are a red line that must not be crossed."

Azzam al-Ahmed, a Fatah legislator and close aide to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said Abbas was planning to give Hamas another two weeks to reconsider its policies before dismissing the government.

"There is a consensus among all the Palestinian factions that the negotiations over the formation of a unity government cannot continue forever," he said. "That's why we will give Hamas two more weeks to reach an agreement on the political platform of the unity government. After that,
President Abbas will use his powers to dismiss the government and call new elections."
PA Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh rejected the ultimatum.

"The Palestinians don't need new elections now," he told reporters in Gaza City. "What we need now is national unity and an end to the internal fighting."

Meanwhile, Fatah and Hamas officials said they were unaware of a Qatari initiative aimed at resolving the crisis in the PA and achieving peace with Israel. Palestinian sources in Ramallah claimed on Tuesday that the plan was presented to Abbas and Mashaal during their recent visit to Qatar.

According to the sources, the six-point plan calls for the formation of a PA government that would be headed by an independent figure and that would include members of Hamas and Fatah.

It also calls for ending the conflict with Israel on the basis of two states next to each other, an end to all forms of violence between Palestinians and Israelis, the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit as part of a prisoner exchange and a commitment on the part of the new government to abide by all previous agreements with Israel.

Hopefully they kill him and each other first, in case the latter does happen. It would be a big mistake for Israel to actually go for the 'two state' deal; there already is a 'two state' solution, has been since 1922, and that certainly didn't work. Creating another 'Palestinian state' won't either. Abbas is merely hoping Israel will step in and save his ***, that's all. If Hamas were to fade into nothing, Abbas would jump in to take up where they left off.

I hope he survives because I would love to see a "peaceful" government in Palistine!

He's no different than Arafat; he just makes noises and hopes he doesn't get assassinated and lives to rule over the same gangster empire Arafat ruled over. Giving that putz his own little country would be the last thing that will see peace.

Wow. I never thought of that. Maybe Abbas is part of the problem. In any event, I find the current behavior of Hamas to be, at the very least, unsettling and at the very most, totally outrageous.

The simple truth is that while the middle east remains a collection of insane, dictatorial, theocracies; there will never be peace. The Muslims must separate their government from their religion or they are doomed to governed by mindless, murderous Islam-o-Nazi thugs for the rest of their primaterial existence.

1 dead, 2 wounded in Taiba shootings
By REBECCA ANNA STOIL

After three young men were gunned down Saturday afternoon in Taiba, police were investigating whether the shootings indicated a resurgence of warfare between two rival local families.

Although the bitter fighting between the Hariri and al-Kader families was thought to have been put to rest following over 21 murders, the weekend shooting in which one man was killed and two wounded seemed to indicate that the cycle of violence had begun anew in the Sharon-area city.

In the early afternoon Saturday, masked gunmen sprayed fire from a moving vehicle into an auto parts store at a gas station near Taiba. A 14-year-old and an 18-year-old were both wounded in the hail of bullets, and were taken to Kfar Saba's Meir Hospital. The older boy was hospitalized in critical condition and the younger in serious condition.

Minutes later, a 24-year-old Taiba resident was shot and killed at a nearby restaurant. The victim, like the two teenagers a member of the al-Kader family, was working at the restaurant, when assailants entered the eatery and gunned him down.

After receiving reports of the shootings, police swarmed to the scenes of the crimes, and a police helicopter was dispatched to try to locate the getaway car, but to no avail.

Police speculated that the shootings Saturday may have been in revenge for the Tuesday murder of 29-year-old Umm el-Fahm resident Nimmer Hariri. Hariri was gunned down in a parking lot near Kafr Kasim, and his cousin was moderately wounded in the hail of bullets.

The two families have a long history of violence throughout the last decades. In recent years, the Hariri family relocated to Umm el-Fahm in order to reduce conflict in their native Taiba.

While police could not confirm that the Tuesday murder was the first chapter in another long chain of violence between the two families, the same special investigative team from the Sharon Subdistrict's elite Central Investigative Unit [CIU] that was probing the Hariri murder was also tasked with investigating Saturday's violence.

Palestinian official's fears that a Friday entente between Fatah and Hamas to halt violent street confrontations would collapse materialized as a Fatah security officer was killed overnight Sunday in clashes between the two rival groups in the Gaza Strip.

Mohammad Shkhadeh, of the Preventive Security Forces, was killed and four others were injured, including one seriously.

On Friday Fatah gunmen opened fire at Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh's car in an apparent assassination attempt, but he escaped unscathed,
and Hamas gunmen opened fire at the Intelligence Headquarters in Gaza City. On Saturday a Fatah activist was kidnapped by Hamas gunmen.

Negotiations between Fatah and Hamas over the formation of a national unity government reached a dead end as Hamas refuses to bow to Fatah demands that it recognizes Israel and Fatah suspicions that the Islamic group is seeking to beef up its military presence in the West Bank.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority security workers have threatened civil revolt if the Hamas-led government fails to pay long-due salaries.

International donors severed financial aid to the Palestinians in January when Hamas won the general elections, leaving the Palestinian Authority cash-strapped.

This is what happens when terrorist scumbags are allowed to interfere with the government of a country. Hamas cannot be reasoned with so they must be destoyed.

Essentially, Hamas is like a dog with rabies... there is no cure for rabies and you don't want the disease to spread...so the most appropriate course of action is to kill the dog and burn its body.

The same applies to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Qauck, the mullahs, the Ayetoietbowl, and the rest of the islam-o-nazi douchebags. They are rabid dogs that have an incurable disease. Therefore, the must be killed and burned so that the disease that is their perverted version of Islam doesn't spread.

Israel: You go to hell!

That's my reaction after watching that. What your doing to the Palestinians is just what my government is doing in Iraq. And both of you should be voted out of office. Neither of you have any business being anywhere near a public office. You both are a blemish on all of mankind.

But I do have hope. I do believe both countries are inherently good. With the majority of citizens in each making up that goodness. I also hope that with each election a tremendous amount of anxiety will come over you due to the knowledge that your lie has ended and people are hip to your rap. The lepard has finally shown it's spots. And the decent population of each country will vote you down to the un-employment lines.

Hezbollah and Hamas, I wish the same for you. Stop your rockets! Stop them in spite of the fact Israel looks more like the Nazi's of Germany than the democracy of today. For that is the only way you can convince the world of your plight, I'm sorry to say.

The first one opened in a "speech" of the self hatred Chumpsky who told that the Middle East was such a peacful place to live untill Israel kidnapped couple of Palestinians or fought back a war that her enemies started. This is a lie!

Harold Pinter, Jose Saramago, Naomi Klein and a long list of intellectuals have signed a strongly worded letter against Israel which was circulated by Professor Noam Chomsky and featured prominently in the international press.

It opens with these words: “The last chapter in the Israeli Palestinian conflict began when the Israelis forcefully abducted two civilians from Gaza, a doctor and his brother, an incident that appeared in very few of the media except for the Turkish press. On the following day, the Palestinians abducted an Israeli soldier and proposed negotiations and the beginning of a prisoner exchange.”

I asked the Israeli Defense Forces Spokesman’s Office to verify the story for me. It seems the two brothers were hardly model citizens. They were both members of Hamas who planned terror attacks for a living and were caught in the midst of doing just that when special Israeli forces arrested them and took them in for questioning by General Security Service investigators. (The IDF could not confirm or deny that one of them was a doctor.)

Even if you don’t believe the official Israeli version, just use logic. The brothers were arrested on Friday night; IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit had been kidnapped 36 hours later. Since it takes long months to dig a tunnel and there is no way that the terror attack at Kerem Shalom army outpost was a response to the arrest of the two brothers. For a noted linguist, Chomsky is certainly sloppy with his words.

One more thing about the letter: That is, Nobel laureate for literature Jose Saramago (author of the international bestseller Blindness) is one of its signatories. Saramago, for your general edification, was born in Portugal, but chose to relocate to the occupied territories of the Canary Islands.

These islands were settled by the Guanchi Tribe who were shepherds and peaceful toilers of the land. Then the Spaniards arrived and conquered the islands. Through carrying out a number of massacres, they almost succeeded in exterminating the entire tribe. In the 1970s’ the Guanchis established an underground resistance which tried to achieve independence for the islands but was defeated by the Spanish government’s military. Never mind. The important thing is to allow Saramago to preach to us.

I do wonder why Chumpsky didn't mention the fact that Israel went out of Gaza more than a year ago. For what? For the Palestinians to use the places that we left there to launch their missiles at Israel cities and to burn the synagogues that we left there (video)

I do wonder why Chumpsky (who is a Jew by definition because he was born to a Jewish mother but declared more than once that he doesn't see himself as Jewish, he doesn't believe in God nor the Jewish history and essence) didn't mention the Israelis who were kidnapped and murdered a short time after the Palestinians kidnapped them:

IDF commander: Asheri murdered immediately

Central Command Chief Naveh says kidnappers of teen settler had no intention of holding negotiations for his release, murdered him one hour after kidnapping him Full article inside

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades: We killed Yakir settler

Senior organization member declares Friday night that his group was behind murder of Yakir resident, whose burnt body was found Thursday in car trunk in Qalqilya area Full article inside

Regarding the second false propaganda movie of the well known BBC. You see a demolished house but nobody is telling you why the house was demolished. The Palestinians are using their houses as bomb factories as it can be view here:
Israel Defense Forces - The Official Website

And also as places to fire their missiles from their back yards at Israeli cities and also houses of terrorists. But Billo_Really doesn't care when Israelis are getting murdered because of a nation of Jihadists who devote their whole life to murder as much Jews as they can in the name of Jihad.

Peace will come when the enemies of Israel (yes, the ones who use their houses as bomb factories that are made for innocent Israelis) will be destroyed and when the ones who defend these kind of barbaric human animals will stop defend them.

Did you hear that Billo_Really? Now you can get back to see your favorite NBA game that you missed some of it because you had to teach us your "great knowledge" in distorting the history.

Here you go, other good article for you to read:

Unless those were all actors on a movie set, those images were real. So deal with it, Jacob! And stop taking what I say out of context. People that take opposing statements out of context do it because their arguments are not as strong as they would like. That's why you felt the need to say this...

...in spite of the fact that I had said this...

I do believe both countries are inherently good. With the majority of citizens in each making up that goodness.
...but you had your little pre-prepared speech already to go and there was no turning back.

What have you done wrong, Jacob? What has Israel done wrong in their treatment of the Palestinians? Your country is in violation of at least 33 UN Resolutions. That doesn't say to me you people care about peace. Why did you people shoot the f_ck out of the USS Liberty? We scrambled some F16's and were going to kick your f_cking a.s.s.e.s but LBJ recalled them because he thought it might have been the Russians. Have you sent the Russians a "Thank you" card for sparing you an a.s.s-whipping? What have you done wrong?

I ask that question because I am sick of this notion that when looking at the problems in ones life, some people act like it's [the problems] always someone else! They never man-up and take responsibility in their lives and look at their role in the problems in their life. Which, in this case, Israels role in causing the hatred against them from their muslim neighbor's.

So, what are you doing wrong, Jacob?

Answer that, then we will move the discussion on to those punk-a.s.s, cowardly, jihadists that think they can kill in the name of God.
