Gavin Newsom (D) took office as California’s new governor on Monday, vowing during his swearing-in ceremony to be hard on President Donald Trump while uniting rural and urban communities in the country’s most populous state.

It was a long-awaited moment for the former California lieutenant governor and San Francisco Mayor, who announced his gubernatorial candidacy nearly four years ago. The Democrat takes over the post from Jerry Brown, a decadeslong fixture in statewide politics who termed out of office after 16 non-consecutive years as California governor.

Listen, guys. I realize he's just been elected Governor, but so had Obama just been elected Senator when he ran! Look at this guy! The hardened, GOP base comprised of men will never vote for this guy, but their wives definitely will!

As I said in the other thread on this subject:

The US Constitution reserves the power to do such things to the people and the several states. Therefore, this is exactly where such an action should be taken - at the state level - just as was done in Massachusetts with what is called RomneyCare.

And what California needs is a damned governor. It's what we elected him to do, and if he charges off after the DNC presidential nomination, he will not be elected dog-catcher when his term here is over.

Same with Kamala Harris.

Obama and Trump have taught us a lesson, lack of experience is a good thing while running for president. No one can attack your past and the public is too stupid to care if you arent qualified
