"In a new Gallup poll on possible 2008 presidential candidates, 36% of the Democratic voters named U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) as their top pick...While among GOPs, 29% named former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani their first choice."

Wonder who would win New York

That is because it is all about name recognition now and not actually about the stances on teh issues. Just wait until 2007 when all the candidates, from the Mark warners to the Russ Feingolds get out there and compete with Hillary for the nomination and she is not going to get nearly as much. Gulliani can't win for many reasons, but again it is because of name recognition now.

Sounds like a lose-lose situation.

I agree.

Giuliani can't win the Republican nomination, much less the general election. It's possible that Hillary can win the nomination/election, but I wouldn't count on her winning either.

I agree. it's definitely just name recall that's putting Clinton and Giuliani on top. Schwarzenegger too is banking on his celebrity name to win back undecided and independent voters in Democrat-dominated California. Check out this article:

Trust me, I live in California and am volunteering for the Angelides campaign right now. We are focusing on getting our name out there in a positive light and working the grassroots and netroots to try and get some base of support for Phil. But Ahhhhrnold has a large step ahead because of his movies and because the voters already know him...the greatest challenge facing a person running is incumbency.

Seriously, I dislike both. Ones a robot and the other is republican.
Maybe nader will have his dream and win New York. I was there last week and no-one thinks Hillary or Guilliani should win the 08 election.

I'd vote for Nader. I liked his running mate last time around. Camejo is a socialist. Also Nader is a green which I support, however too many people in New York are pissed at him for Gore losing 2000, and in 04 I remember he was campaigning here and people starting booing him so he left.

If the Dems put up Clinton as the nominee, they might as well let Bush know to pass the White House keys to whatever Republican nominee they pick.

The republicans have soo much dirt on clinton and all they have to do is drag out their little "mudslinging box" and sit back and have a party. I'm not saying the dems don't have one either, but the box labeled "Hillary" is quite full and they won't even have to break a sweat.

Remember, in American politics today, it isn't the best candidate for the job, it is the one who has the less mud on them when all is said and done. I don't agree with that, but that is how politics are nowadays.
