What the hell happened? All of a sudden liberals became the "cancel culture" uptight straight arrow do-gooders and Republicans ran up the tab on drugs, young women, and sex parties.

Yup, from both sides. Who cares what the courts might say. He's already convicted in the court of public opinion. He is a sleaze in my opinion so now prove to me he did something illegal. Until then he's just another common sleezy loud mouthed lunatic republican politician.

Our city has a big annual park festival with different events and food vendors. They also have political party booths set up campaigning for ever whose running.

When you would walk by the Democrat booth it seemed to be always filled with old skinny hippies and the Republican booth was filled with clean cut guys who looked trustworthy.

Now things have definitely changed.

I guess things are cyclic.

I think if there was any actionable evidence, he would already be behind bars. All we have is rumor. I get it though. Many people are still at K-12 levels of maturity and think gossip is fact.

Yes, because a mature understanding of law is that people are caught and indicted the instant after they commit crimes. That's why Epstein and Cosby didn't spend literally decades raping people until they were finally arrested.

The fact is that...

1. This is a Federal investigation.
2. Federal investigations move at the speed of continental drift. This is why I don't get excited over the announcements of Federal investigations.
3. Federal investigations are selected based on their confidence of ending in conviction, which means that Gaetz is really, really screwed.

So a philosophical question is, would you rather be the target of a state or Federal investigation? Hard to say. A state investigation could potentially be sloppier and more likely to be selected for political reasons (comparatively speaking), but it'll be over faster. A Federal investigation can go on for years, so your life is going to be turned upside down for a really long time before you even spend a day in prison.

Like I said, hard to say.

That's my feeling as well. He is a bit of a Pandora's Box as far as malfeasance is concerned and I think they're going to get him on campaign spending as well as the other stuff.

It looks like Gaetz was pretty comfortable with breaking the law, which seems to be a basic requirement for being in the GOP these days.
