These are the aspirations that joined the fates of all nations in this city. These aspirations are bigger than anything that drives us apart. It is because of these aspirations that the airlift began. It is because of these aspirations that all free people – everywhere – became citizens of Berlin. It is in pursuit of these aspirations that a new generation – our generation – must make our mark on the world.
People of Berlin – and people of the world – the scale of our challenge is great. The road ahead will be long. But I come before you to say that we are heirs to a struggle for freedom. We are a people of improbable hope. With an eye toward the future, with resolve in our hearts, let us remember this history, and answer our destiny, and remake the world once again.
Some people are now comparing Obama to Kennedy, but not me. IMHO, Obama is the most charismatic empty vessel since I don't know when.
No doubt about it. Obama has the gift of gab, but what we need is a president who will perform actions, and on that front, both Obama and McCain fall pathetically short. Talk is cheap.

Exactly, they aren;t promising to do anything, therefore, they don't and won't have to do anything. What do you want them to do that they're not doing or promising to do?

Some time in the past, a politician figured out that you don't need to make promises to get elected. Just say a bunch fo fancy words that make people feel cozy inside. So then, when they got into office, no one can call on them for lieing. What?????????
Obama should give up running here and go for office in Germany since he's so popular. "Obama for chancellor '08", it flows well...
Your right. As a person right-of center, I can say that I'm pissed that an empty vessel like Obama actually has a chance of becoming president. American deserves better, much better from our politicians than this.I think the right is pissed that a democratic American politician can get 200.000 people to come listen to him in a foreign country, and no one wants to listen their has been 72 year old forgetful candidate that makes AL Gore look and sound exciting

Well you can have an "empty vessel" like Obama or a forgetful borderline dementia vessel like McCain.. I know what I would choose hands down.... I can barely trust my own father with things these days as he forgets once in a while, and he is younger than McCain and in much better shape.
But you see, thats the problem with this election. No matter what happens, we lose this election. We have 2 loser democrats running for office, where do we true conservatives vote? 3rd party?
You know reading his speach this morning it is clear, that he and reverend wright hold the same opinion about my great country.
What part of the speech is that rev? Perhaps I missed that obvious position of Obama's.
I quoted it in another thread somewhere.

I'm embarrassed that Hussein Obama went to Germany, for a speech in front of an estimated 200,000 people, and he gave his speech in English.
Just a couple of weeks ago, he was bad mouthing Americans for not being more bi/multilingual. He said it was embarrassing that Europeans come here and speak English, but we go to Europe, and all we can say is merci beaucoup.
I mean he could have hired a tutor, used a Berlitz language book, or even purchased Rosetta Stone to educate himself a little bit.
For him to have given that speech in German, would've been impressive, and shown his command of the world stage. Instead, we witnessed yet another arrogant, and hypocrital moment in his campaign.
He never claimed to speak German. Perhaps his speaks a different language. Perhaps he only speaks english. It doesn't make him a hypocrite, it illustrates his point. So you are conceding the multilingual argument for this hypocrisy claim? Please tell me you are working for McCain.
