PARIS — France's data privacy watchdog has fined Google 50 million euros ($57 million), the first penalty for a U.S. tech giant under new European data privacy rules that took effect last year.

The National Data Protection Commission said Monday it fined the U.S. internet giant for "lack of transparency, inadequate information and lack of valid consent" regarding ad personalization for users.

America should be ashamed that we have barely cared about such things...... it was our responsibility to make sure that the now tech giants grew under proper supervision but we are too corrupt a nation with a largely nonfunctional Government and the people have not cared about any of the ROT generally.

The republicans are going to care during the next election cycle, trust me. This time round was just a tease, testing the waters, no amount of greased pockets is going to prevent it.
