Free Trade ............its a GOOD THING as the Felon from NYC says..............LMAO

Re: Free Trade ............its a GOOD THING as the Felon from NYC says..............L

well you can call it freeish trade.

im quite aware there never has been free trade or laizzess faire capitalism ever practiced,as someone somewhere will always restrict trade between other countries or within their own countries in an attempt to favor their own interests.

We have seen pure/close to pure free trade throughout history, especially in hunter/gatherer societies. States certainly tend to muddle things up. But I'm curious, why do so many defend a non-free trade system in the name of free trade?

because in this case its the closest thing to it,and it has been more successful than past systems people beg to return to.but its not much different than people who back socialism, knowing no one could ever get a perfect mirror of that ideology due to corruption, both suffer the same problems, people in power seek more power, capitalism gives them less leverage and takes more time, but is still quite achievable as seen today with numerous govt protected monopolies, who also fund the same candidates who protect them.

in the end niether pure capitalism nor pure socialism can exist unless a non corrupt form of govt existed, which is impossible as most people are corruptable.

It's because of employee benefits and cost of living here in the United States. Plus Unions. This forces companies to pay more money to labor compared to other countries that have lower cost of living and less benefits in some other countries. Another reason why there are imports is because we have a big demand for certain products that can easily be satisfied from another country's production.

the cost of living is higher in sweden than in the us,and many people there make less wages, but are backed by a large safety net.

countries like germany and sweden make them cheaper because they have managed cheaper methods of production and have become efficient, which is a principle capitalism promotes, which is to focus on what a country can produce efficiently, instead of producing everything no matter how inneficient then trying to ban all competition hoping other countrieswont retaliate.

We actully have some of the worst labor laws and working conditions of the western world. And China is free to builds its own homes and cars. No reason
to allow them to steal USA jobs at our expence.

what do you mean steal us jobs, exporting from china to the us costs money, their labor is becoming constantly more expensive,i somehow doubt its stealing.

you fail to realize much of what america used to make they made horribly inneficiently, but ofcourse people like you are stuck in the days when people thought they would fall off the earth if they sailed too fae.those economic policies never really prospered for their people, and only made their country and a few elite succesfull.

This is a lie. I've got an old Curtis Mathes TV that I inherited. "Most expensive TV, and darn well worth it". It still works even though it gets no signal anymore because of the HD switchover. This thing probably dates back to 1970. It still works.

Show me any of your "efficient" foreign TVs - or anything else, for that matter - that last anything CLOSE to that long.

I agree that a pure form of freed market (hate using the term 'capitalism' due to its history) is extremely hard, if not impossible to achieve. But I just find it interesting when there are distortions/imbalances in the market many are quick to become apologists for those distortions thinking it is all part of the freed market and not part of the corruption.

my aunts rca was made in the seventies and was made in japan,it survived even past the day we through it out, simply because we couldnt get parts for the remote.

you fail to realize modern televisions are extremely reliable, infact ive never had one fail that hadnt been dropped first.even further prior to the japanese making televisions and television parts,a television was almost as expensive as a new car.

See you need to learn about "value added" . its the idea you dont export the jobs in the manufacturing chain. you dont sell iron ore, you sell cars and keep all steel, machining, and all other jobs.

"inefficient" is code for lower profits. And yes profits for the few rather than millions is not good for USA. Only good for CEO's that hide in Moticarlo.

The middle class was built on union jobs starting in 1930's with the NLRA. Before was slave labor, and now is slave labor.

you dont realize that the idea of keeping all raw materials and manufacturing everything to sell is a horribly failed idea that was thought up when most the world still believed theworld was flat.

that idea only works if there is absolutely no competition,in which every country will compete,so then the only way for those business to survive would be to isolate themselves from the world, but then again no one ever became prosperous by selling to themselves.

inneficient means that for example us cars are among the most expensive in the world, rank among the lowest in quality, and are the most subsidized,250 dollars from each taxpayer goes to american car companies as subsidies.so inneficient means we pay workers less than the germans do,charge more money for our product, and produce a lower quality product.so that there defines inneficient, producing the worst product for the highest cost.

the middle classs wasnt built on union jobs starting in the 30's.almost the entire nation was poor then, the real american middle class didnt start until post ww2 after the depression, and it was fueled by virtually no competition in manufacturing.
