Want to make an easy one and a half large ($1,500.00 bucks)? I figured out a way to get free money from the banksters, and it's legal. You have to have good credit to do it. Credit card companies are offering signup rewards. Spend a certain amount with the card in 3 months and they give you money. I have already done it with AMEX Gold and the Propel card, and am doing it now with the CapitalOne Savor card. 500 bucks for spending $3,000.00 on each card in 3 months. Of course, there is a catch. They want you to keep money on the cards so they can sink their teeth into you with interest payments. Not working out for them because I am paying the balance each month. LOL. As soon as I finish getting free money from the card I am doing now, I am going to do it again, and again, and again, ad nauseum. Their loss, my gain. LOL.

Yep, so long as you are able to pay off the CC balance within 30 days they are essentially free (or better than free, as you noted) money. Many have either a fixed amount or some percentage of "rewards" and, as you said, if you pay the balance (down to zero) monthly it is an interest free loan with a (cash) bonus.

IMO not really worth it. How long till your credit score goes down (so you no longer qualify) with all the revolving credit lines you keep opening?

My credit score is great. Average length of time of all open accounts is a low factor. Inquiries is a low factor. Number of accounts is a low factor. These pretty much balance out. 100 percent payment record on accounts is a high factor, and credit card use is a medium factor. Fact is, in 6 months my credit score has actually increased, and it was already pretty good. Yes, score goes down a little at first, but over time, it increases a lot, as long as you pay the bills.

So long as you borrow and repay, your credit rating is likely to go up.

I did that for an airline card for FF miles, I was able to pay a site to pay my mortgage bill plus enough to hit the spend requirement, it cost me a few bucks to do it, but I was going to spend that amount anyway. Now that the mortgage has been completely paid off, the rating went down a bit, but it is still in the excellent column.

IDK, my credit score has actually gone down slightly over the last few years being I have no installment debt. I only have 2 CC's, one's more of a spare when main one gets hacked, balances are PIF each month.

Old info gets tossed out thats why. If you have no debt then its possible to end up getting a blank entry when somebody brings up your credit rating.
