The international oil market may be many things but one thing is it *not* is an example of free market capitalism. Even what happens within a given nation with oil is not an example of free market capitalism.

You missed the emphasized word. Would you say the existence of a cartel is consistent with what could be described as a free and fair market? Would you say the nationalized oil industries that make up that cartel are also consistent with a market?

The “free” market decided to raise prices on gas that had been bought and paid for and in-country months ago the day of the invasion. And they won’t let it go down until long after the more expensive oil has been turned into gas and burned in cars and they’re charging crisis prices for oil that already went back to normal.

The oil industry has played this game for as long as I can remember.

The free market doing its “free to gouge at will” game it has always played.
