France to pay $60m into Holocaust compensation fund.

Maybe they should each and every one show that they were in the Resistance. Then a special tax could be legislated to be charged those that had not resisted. That way the damages done the deported Jews could be paid compensated. And as I pointed out, $60 Millions is only symbolic and more a sign of contempt than anything else.

Now that is more acceptable!

I agree.

Well, if no one will take the $60 mill... [reaches hand]

Shouldn't all nations have to pay the victims because of the Evian Conference? A lot of those Jews should never have been at the whim of a French fascist government.

They weren't Japanese immigrants, they were American citizens many of which were born here. As for your interpretation of having done nothing:

From Wrong To Right: A U.S. Apology For Japanese Internment : Code Switch : NPR

no, there is even a term for it. The first generation (born in japan) immigrants were imprisoned and never received compensation, or other forms of justice

this included for instance many who came to America to study while japan was yet to industrialize, going back to 1890s. Imagine your college kid did study abroad and was taken hostage and held in ghettos for years and that is basically the same thing

Ridiculous. Why on Earth should the French government pay anyone living today for something they never personally experienced, for which the French government wasn't even responsible? The country was under Nazi occupation at the time.

You said nothing was done, I provided a source that contradicts what you said. Prove your statement that nothing was done.
