Sources dispute claim Trump nixed visit to military cemetery over disdain for slain veterans, but back up parts of Atlantic report | Fox News

Sources said they never heard Trump call war dead 'losers' or 'suckers;' other details remain in dispute.

Two sources who were on the trip in question with Trump refuted the main thesis of The Atlantic's reporting -- that Trump canceled a trip to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, which is at the site of Belleau Wood, an important World War I battle, because he believed the dead soldiers to be "losers."

One of the sources who refuted the Atlantic's reporting is not a fan of Trump. Both sources said that Trump was upset about not being able to go to Aisne-Marne and said they had never heard Trump refer to war dead at Aisne-Marne or in the battle of Bellau Wood as "losers" or "suckers."

He was upset about going to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery because the intense rain would ruin his hairspray.
Other leaders forced themselves to face the rain and honor the young men who died for us.

There is absolutely no reason to start a new thread about this. Everyone knows there already are two on the exact same topic. You are dismissed.

And this proves what?

This is a thread about the reporting that these accusations are FALSE.

That Trump DID NOT call anyone in the military losers or suckers.

And that the liberal media will take a hit as a result of all this.

How many sources do you all have indicating that these claims are true?

Two sources present at the event confirm the claim is false.
No, two sources claim the didn't see/hear it.

What is described in the article is consistent with Trump's historical behaviours in these matters.

BTW - The Tweet cited in your article is in error - the author indeed came forward.

Not it's not! This is a story about two individuals claiming they didn't see it.

And the other thread is about one or two unnamed individuals claiming they did see it.

The two individuals referenced in this article were present at the event. Their claims have just as much weight.

It is a thread about what he said. You chose not to believe he said it because Trump is your idol. All you care about is worshiping the worst person in America.

Time is running out for you to prove me wrong. You have only ONE more chance to do so.

Question:
Were the "two sources" with President Trump all of the time? Did they hear every conversation President Trump had during the event?
Is it possible the unnamed Atlantic sources were with Trump when your linked article sources were not?

I dislike both the Atlantic and your linked article because they both have unnamed sources. So who is to tell which is correct?

imo, it is as likely Trump said those things as it is he did not. However, one strike against Trump is his remarks about McCain. That does set a trend.

Have you read the Atlantic article?

If somebody robs a bank, which witness testimony is more relevant: the person who witnessed it or the or the person who didn't see the robbery because he was at home reading a book?

The logic of your argument is that there wasn't even a bank robbery because the person at home reading a book didn't see it happen.

Taken one step further, if a tree falls in the woods and you didn't hear it but several other people did, it didn't make a sound.

???

Do you understand that there is no proof that he said this?

Two anonymous people in the trip say he did, mysteriously exactly two months before the election. If they were so outraged, why didn’t they say anything two years ago?

As confirmed by Fox, two others present confirm that Trump did NOT make these statements.

The reason you have the perception that Trump is the worst person in America is because the liberal media keeps making up stories, and even if the stories are factually false, gullible people still believe them.

The backfire effect in action.

Why do you repeat echo chamber nonsense?

Better yet, carry on... :sarcasticclap:

Sorry OP, but Trump did criticize McCain for being captured. Jennifer Griffin interviewed sources who heard the President saying those words about the troops. You could easily spin the story, arguing that Trump doesn't believe in interventionism and the Vietnam war was a grave mistake. But no, that's not the angle Trumpists are going in.

This comes from you who went along with the anti-Trump sycophantism regarding the validity of the Steele Dossier. How'd that work out for you?

imagine the pressure TRump put on these folks to say this?

I read one of the "non hearers" was John Barron, the other was John Miller.

Correct, Trump did make the comment about McCain.

Which provided the liberal media with an excuse to concoct this extremely sketchy story, which two individuals present at the event deny.

I also notice the timing of this story.

The Friday before Labor Day Weekend, so that even if the story is untrue, it takes up the news cycle for three days, before professional journalists return to work on Tuesday and have a chance to confirm it is untrue.

And exactly two months before the election.

If this story is true, why didn’t the anonymous sources say something two years ago?

Trump respects the military....
