Fox: "no 'reasonable viewer' takes Tucker Carlson seriously"

Fox won their court case by claiming no reasonable viewer would take Tucker Carlson seriously.

Fox News won a court case by 'persuasively' arguing that no 'reasonable viewer' takes Tucker Carlson seriously

While they are right about reasonable people, many of their viewers aren't reasonable.

I'm going to assume you didn't read the actual court document because if you had, you'd know that Fox News did not argue that no reasonable viewer takes Tucker Carlson seriously.

That story from Business Insider is "Fake News".

What they said was that Tucker Carlson hosts a political opinion show and that no reasonable viewer would take the opinions he expresses (including the one at the center of the lawsuit) as a factual declaration. Hell, nowhere in that 19 page court document does the word "seriously" even appear. The judge in the case agreed with Fox's lawyers and concluded:

Plaintiff Karen McDougal claims to have been defamed by accusations of “extortion”
leveled at her by Tucker Carlson on Defendant Fox News Network’s broadcast. However, as
described herein, Ms. McDougal has not offered a plausible interpretation that the statements Mr.
Carlson made, when read in context, are statements of fact. The Court concludes that the
statements are rhetorical hyperbole and opinion commentary intended to frame a political debate,
and, as such, are not actionable as defamation.

You were duped by another BS story by the BS mainstream news media.
