Fox News host Jesse Watters interviews White House adviser Kellyanne Conway on his Dec. 17, 2017 show. Fox News/Screenshot
Fox News host Jesse Watters suggested that the FBI investigation into whether Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election has maybe transformed into a “coup” against President Donald trump. Before a segment in which Watters interviewed Kellyanne Conway with the chyron, “A COUP IN AMERICA?” the Fox News host went on a rant about what he described as “smoking gun evidence” that the FBI agents investigating Trump are biased against the president. “The investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign has been crooked from the jump,” Watters said on Saturday night. “But the scary part is we may now have proof the investigation was weaponized to destroy his presidency for partisan political purposes and to disenfranchise millions of American voters. Now, if that’s true, we have a coup on our hands in America.” On Saturday night, another Fox News host, Jeanine Pirro, outright suggested that the FBI wanted to reverse Trump’s election. And he is hardly alone. Many at Fox have been increasing the rhetoric against FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

It is a fact that a hostile foreign power at least tried to influence our election.
The president of the United States does not want the FBI to investigate that influence.
Why?
Russia meddling in our national elections is a threat to democracy, pure and simple, and must be stopped. One must ask why the winner of the last election is so adamantly opposed to the FBI doing their job.
Because it would somehow make him illegitimate?
If Mueller is a coup, what was the Starr probe???

Stelter: Fox's pro-Trump hosts are working overtime to discredit Robert Mueller - Dec. 7, 2017The overarching message from "Fox & Friends" and "Hannity" is unmistakable: Mr. President, you're the victim of a "deep state" plot to take you down. Don't let it happen.
Sean Hannity, the highest-rated host on Fox, has renewed his calls for Mueller to resign. And Fox's other pro-Trump shows reinforce this message on a daily basis.
In recent weeks, there's been a big increase in reporting about Mueller's probe and how it could affect Trump's inner circle. At the same time, there's also been a sharp escalation in the anti-Mueller rhetoric coming from right wing media sources.
With four of Trump's associates now charged by Mueller's team, and congressional probes also proceeding in many different directions, other channels are filled with the latest twists and turns about the intensifying investigations.
Later that evening, Hannity's opinion was that Mueller is the "head of the snake." He called the special counsel a "disgrace to the American justice system" and asserted that the country is "now on the brink of becoming a banana republic."
Fox News is arguably the most powerful conservative media megaphone, but it is far from the only outlet questioning the credibility of Mueller, a registered Republican who is widely respected by legal experts.
The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post -- outlets that are, like Fox, owned by Rupert Murdoch -- have also repeatedly published opinion pieces with sharp criticism of Mueller.
The repetition is really something to behold -- not just by hosts but by guests who back up the anti-Mueller arguments. "There needs to be an investigation of the investigation," Mike Huckabee, father of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, said on "Fox & Friends" on Monday.
So this Steve Schmidt is now a favorite of the Trump opposition. You call him a republican strategist, if he were that I doubt
he'd be an MSNBC commentator. The guy is constantly on with Maddow, O'Donnell & the newest to be reported sexual harasser
Matthews for one reason to bash Republicans. And you post he's a 'smart man' who didn't even graduate from college.
Schmidt headed the John McCain effort in 2008 & he wasn't very brilliant in that capacity as McCain had the lowest
electoral count of any republican candidate who never became president in 54, yes 54 years. As chief campaign strategist
he joined up with another MSNBC anchor Nicole Wallace in that disastrous campaign. MSNBC seems to be the requiem for
formerly failed republican mouthpieces and strategists. Smith & Wallace were heavy into the failed Bush & McCain decade,
& when the republicans finally found a winning candidate who thoroughly toyed with Jeb Bush in the primary & made his opinions
of McCain well known in a rather obnoxious not politically correct way these losers become incensed with Trump for dissing their
former employers. What else would you expect. Look don't refer to the likes of Schmidt or Wallace as republicans
anymore & you can add Anna Navarro of CNN to that list of so-called
Republicans who because Trump's heavy beat down of her preferred candidates 'Low Energy Jeb"
& 'Little Marco' has with her absolute scorn for Trump commentated like she is seeking the title of ' The worlds most hysterical women'
on Cable.
Just Say 'Yes' to Prosperity, Trump seems to be doing just fine! I'm sure Schmidt's commentary bothers Trump
about as much as an annoying fly bothers an elephant.

This is a feedback loop.
Trump is probably watching fox and hearing this nonsense right now.
Somebody's been getting talking points from CNN.
I hope you realize that by mimicking that CNN line you're participating in a practice you & they are complaining about.
