Fox News appears to be slowly turning on Trump. Well, very slowly, but the signs are out there.

Well, good for them.....but the phrase "too little, too late" comes to mind. Nothing Trump has done should have been a surprise to anyone.

Compare this with the New York Times running an article titled "Obama has lost all credibility" (2013, I think) following the revelations of deception about NSA's ongoing and expanded domestic spying.

* Shame on them for later editing the title to "Obama has lost all credibility about the NSA."

No this is correcting the massive screw up of Obama that retreated from Iraq and allowed (actually created ISIS and trained them) to run rampant in the ME.

That was not my point at all lol. I’m talking about the media’s loyalty to ratings and money.

Fox News was very anti Trump in the very beginning of the GOP primaries. Once he won the GOP primaries, they had no choice but to kiss his ass if they wanted to keep their viewers tuning in. Once Trump becomes completely useless to the GOP, Fox News (like the GOP), will have no issue throwing his fat ass to the wolves.

I hope you're right, because this is getting ridiculous..

The Status of Forces Agreement cemented in by the Bush administration was a hard date to leave Iraq.

It established that U.S. combat forces would withdraw from Iraqi cities by June 30, 2009, and all U.S. combat forces will be completely out of Iraq by December 31, 2011.

OMG.... How may times has a statement like yours been shown to be false. America was not bound by the SOFA.

Why not in Iraq? Mr. Obama could have chosen to override the lawyers’ excessive demands, but he didn’t. Another point that Obama defenders use to excuse failure to renegotiate SoFA is the idea that the Obama Administration tried, but the Iraqis would not budge on the immunity issue for our troops; and a vote left up to parliament would never pass.

Oh that's a sterling defense :lamo

America wasn't bound by ANYTHING if we use your logic. Shock and Awe, we were bound by nothing more than our whim!

"A status of forces agreement (SOFA) is an agreement between a host country and a foreign nation stationing military forces in that country. SOFAs are often included, along with other types of military agreements, as part of a comprehensive security arrangement. A SOFA does not constitute a security arrangement; it establishes the rights and privileges of foreign personnel present in a host country in support of the larger security arrangement. Under international law a status of forces agreement differs from military occupation."

Using your logic, there is no such thing as a status of forces agreement at all, the concept itself does not even exist, and that all troop presence in any country amounts to an occupation, and the host country has no rights or standing whatsoever.

FACT: There was never going to be any guarantee of immunity, not in Iraq, not in any war theater.
Name a single war where troops are guaranteed immunity from prosecution for war crimes.
This is a form of logic cooked up by the Elliot Abramses and Michael Ledeens of this world, people who never served and who view wars as "useful managed conflicts".
When the Right controls all of the messaging, they never fail to pay a think tank to invent an entire lexicon that suits their purposes and troop "guarantees of immunity" from prosecution of war crimes is certainly no exception. The reality however, is quite different, in that had we never gone into Iraq in the first place, we could guarantee that no American troops, or contractors, would commit war crimes. The Iraq Conflict wasn't ever a real war, because Congress never officially declared it a war. But the government of Iraq certainly seems to think it was a war. And they aren't willing to just paper over some of the atrocities committed by US troops.

I would love to live in your world, where Republican presidents unilaterally decide to invade countries on the basis of faulty cherry picked intelligence from guys named "Curveball", then sign agreements which are then dismissed as nonexistent because the host country did not agree to the terms of the agreement regarding the unwelcome invasion in the first place, based on concepts which do not exist in the first place. And then leave it to Democratic presidents to clean up the mess afterward.

It all ties in with Karl Rove's famous tirade in front of Ron Suskind:

"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

Yep, there is no question that you righties are "creating your own reality".
"America is not bound by the Status of Forces Agreement." :lamo
I sure do hope we don't consult you guys when it comes time to negotiate our SOFA with Germany or South Korea.

You can trace the ISIS timeline back to 2004.

I hope you're consistent if this turns out to be true in Syria. The Obama administration was responding to much of the public support for scaling back US troops abroad, since many had been serving multiple tours. Then of course there was the request of the Iraqis to move troops out. This is part of the same mandate Trump seems to be following regarding foreign entanglements. At some point the US will have to leave Iraq; unless it plans on permanently staying there, so whoever pulls the trigger on that withdrawal will run the same risk. So do you want to keep US troops in the ME theaters indefinitely?

Can't find many people not agreeing with what Julie said. Let's see the Trump cult rip her a new one...

All he had to do is show up and thank the troops for their service; to let them know the country is behind them. Instead he can't help but make it some partisan nonsense as if everyone there is going to share the same view or want to think about politics. For me it was almost as cringeworthy as when he did the same at the Boy Scouts event.

Trump will do what Fox News says. He listens to them carefully to his daily debriefing and does what they tell him. He could care less about briefings from the Pentagon, the CIA, the FBI, his cabinet, or any other egghead fool that tries to talk to him. Fox News is what's really running the country right now.

You can trace the ISIS timeline back to 2004.

You can also trace the guns from Libya to Syria to ISIL/ISIS and the training of the terrorists by the Obama CIA. Really who would order the CIA and our military to ship and supply ISIS with US military equipment and training? Yes it was our 44th president Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John Brennan behind it all.
What do you think the attack on the Benghazi consulate extension was all about?

I swear to god this will be the first man to be elected to president twice by screwing up so much no one will believe it's true. It's asinine and unending.

It is interesting where they draw their lines.
