Brian Kolfage told NBC News he didn’t want to mention his previous projects because he “didn’t want it to be a distraction.”

An internet fundraiser for Donald Trump’s border wall took in more than $7 million from over 131,000 donors by early Thursday evening.

The Florida man behind the GoFundMe page, a triple-amputee Iraq War veteran named Brian Kolfage, spent a large portion of the fundraising campaign’s description outlining his past, including a bolded section titled “How do you know this is not a scam?”
================================================
"The fundraising page doesn’t mention Kolfage’s most recent business venture, a Facebook page titled Right Wing News and a ring of affiliate sites that frequently trafficked in conspiracy theories. In October, Right Wing News was pulled down by Facebook in a sweep of more than 559 pages that the company said were “using fake accounts… to drive traffic to their websites” or “were ad farms using Facebook to mislead people into thinking that they were forums for legitimate political debate.”

Another group started by Kolfage is Fight4FreeSpeech & it also is in the donation-trolling business.

People sending this guy money should first question his motives & his sincerity.

Aren't we assured that all GoFundMe causes are 100% legitimate? Surely, nobody could just pocket the funds or divert them to other uses. ;)

People "sending this guy money" are doing so because in each case they agree with the cause.

It is not a crime to raise money via GoFundMe for issues other people don't agree with.

It is also not a crime to have political and social views that other people disagree with.

It is only a crime if a crime has been committed, like fraud, theft, misappropriation, etc.

Get back to us when you have evidence of actual prior misuse of funds. :coffeepap:

With all due respect, this GoFundMe effort is going nowhere.

One of my favourites:

Solar Roadways!

Reminds me of the time Trump said putting solar panels on the wall was a good idea. He certainly demonstrated one hell of sharp business mind that day. :lamo

USA Today has a different and more balanced take.

.................

But Kolfage's intentions were questioned by a recent BuzzFeed News article alleging he used his position to push right-wing conspiracy theories and false stories on a number of conservative media sites.

Kolfage said in an email to The Arizona Republicon Sunday afternoon that the article was intentionally trying to smear his image. He said he plans to take legal action against BuzzFeed.

He said the claims were fabricated and provided multiple screenshots showing what he described as "fake" Facebook accounts posting under his name.

"I would NEVER say those things," he added.

Gofundme for Trump supporter needs to.be questioned and researched fully because it's probably a scam. Gofundme for someone someone accusing a Trump supporter of a sexual harassment is to have their story believed and donating is your patriotic duty or you are a misogynist.

The state of politics in the last 3months of 2018.

Sure. Makes the ideal cottage industry for your disabled vets & perhaps even true grifters & con men. Just make sure your post office is wheel chair accessible so you can empty the donation checks out of your P.O. Box.

A few hundred yards at most out of roughly 2K miles. Sound like a con?

No not really. You're just butthurt that this is turning into the most successful GoFundMe campaign ever and it's for something you hate.

It's not like you aren't completely transparent in your motives.

And what percentage of the wall would that be?

More importantly - how, exactly, can money be given to the federal government and 'earmarked' for any specific department, agency or program use? As far as I can determine, any money donated to the federal government (US treasury?) goes into the general fund and simply reduces the annual deficit.

And what percentage of the wall would that be?

Well, if we're looking at the wall Trump promised his base, and expecting that to cost about $75b, so far they have raised about .0022%.

At this pace, we only need to wait until roughly another 1.27 billion people have contributed, and they'll have raised the necessary funds! So keep pumping out those kids Evangelicals, Trump need's 'em. He need's 'em bad! (Oh, 2 down! Only 1,269,999,998 to go!)

If we're only going for $5b, then he doesn't even need close to a billion more people. So Evangelicals, phone someone you know in China, and tell them to donate to the new "Great Wall"

He's relying on suckers not looking very deeply into his background and motives.

And I see that it's working.

Let's assume for a minute that he is sincere. Lets wait and see how far this goes. Lets wait and see how ardent people are, how many are willing to put their money where their proverbial mouth is.
May be, just may be, many citizens are sick and tired to see hundreds, thousands, millions of people snub their noses are our laws and borders. Passion runs high on both sides. How can we fault either?

Nah, it's simply yet another case of you liberals pulling out your sleazy tricks to discredit an American hero.

And as we've seen, you're very good at it.

He's relying on suckers not looking very deeply into his background and motives.

How many people do you think fund illegals crossing our borders. I am too lazy to look for a link, but remember reading about "stations" and "cell phones" and "maps" helping these folks out. Why is that so different?

He is relying on people who see things differently than you do, as is our right.
