We (cnredd and vauge) have talked over the last couple of days.
For those who haven't been around long enough to know the story, cnredd used to be a Moderator at DebatePolitics.com until there was a major fallout. He was relieved of Moderator duties, but was still able to post. He chose not to...
Immediately afterward, He was recruited to become the Administrator of a similar political website at its inception called HardcorePolitics.com, and using his experience from here, created a site with a different nuance.
Since that time, we have pretty much avoided each other like the plague. Unfortunately, this seems to have caused a perception of deviousness and non-trust towards each others' site. That has poured over to the members, which is making it seem like there is a "forum war".
We have come to an agreement that this is definitely not the way to go. We've moved our differences aside for the sake of the bigger picture.
We want everyone to realize that is not a "them or us" scenario...Being part of one or the other site...or even both...is not, and should not, be an issue.
Also, neither site should be used as a place to vent about what you don't like somewhere else. There has been a lot of venom started about on both sides and we feel that there is absolutely nothing productive about such commentary.
And we feel that one shouldn't be vilified because they associate with the other's site either. There is no "DP Team" against the "HP Team".
We offer different flavors with similar tastes. Everyone can decide for themselves which they would like to participate in if not both. We believe political discussion is both interesting and productive with a diverse crowd.
We have agreed to be available if either of us needs assistance. We are both Unix admins/web developers and can offer each other unique solutions.
Thank you from the both of us,
vauge - Lead Moderator: debatepolitics.com
cnredd - Administrator: hardcorepolitics.com
Both vauge and cnredd wrote this final draft in parts and have agreed on the final draft.
