[R.I.P.] Former President George H.W. Bush Dies At 94

Re: [R.I.P.] Former president George H.W. Bush dies at age 94

Rest in peace.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94. How do you rank his life, his WWII service, both times at CIA and his presidency ?

He certainly lived a long and full life that very few people achieve. With each passing day, he looks better and better compared to what we have today.

He was a member of the greatest generation and served in WW2. He and his generation deserve credit for our freedom today.

Bush 41 was a Patriot but not a Great President.Not even a notable President.But
he did serve as Vice President for a Great President { Ronald Reagan }.He surely was
no Bad President. That would have been L.B.J. who for some reason unknown to psychology
Presidential Historian Doris Kerns Goodwin never lets an opportunity pass to explain in
detail who her Best President in Modern history was.It was L.B.J. who she worked under.
I think I know what Kerns favorite beverage is.Even when at the Ball park { she's a baseball
devotee }.It'd be Kool-aid.With Lots Sugar. The Kind leftists crave.
But getting back to George Herbert Walker Bush.He was a Very devoted husband.
In fact,he held Barbara Bush's hand her entire last day on earth. They need to make a movie
of that.Plus his insisting on wearing funny socks at her Funeral.Socks with cartoon bright
patterns. He did it to prove his love as First Lady Barbara was a tough cookie who was also
very committed to her causes. That being her family and her dedication to Educating
with her Family Literacy Foundation. That might explain what son Bush 43 was doing on the
morning of 9/11.George Walker Bush was at the Emma E. Booker Elementary school in
Sarasota,Fla. Reading a children's story.The story was - The Pet Goat -.
Much was made of it by leftists.I wonder what kind of - Pet Bush Stories - will Trotsky out this
weekend concerning Old Man Bush.Hopefully ... nil to none.
Y'know like how the Public reacted when Old Man Hope { Bob Hope } passed.

Papa Bush is where he strived to be, back in the arms of his beloved wife, and most of all, in the loving arms of Jesus. He is certainly resting in peace.

RIP Mr President

I liked him and enjoyed serving under him when he was CiC. He was a lot better than his successors.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

Nice to see such warm notes about President Bush. And what is noticeable is that you can't mention his name without his wife of 72 years, Barbara.

That is just incredible to be married to someone for 72 years.

RIP George.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

A good president and a great father and husband. Rest in peace Mr.
President.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

I actually didn't even realize he was still alive. 94 is a good solid innings at bat, RIP.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

One of the most qualified people ever to become President. RIP Mr. President.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

The one unforgettably noble and American thing Herbert Walker Bush demonstrated
and Proved was how The United States was the undisputed World's Superpower.
His Toppling Saddam Hussein's Iraq and Military { considered 4th largest in the World }.
The Persian Gulf War managed that mission on the ground in about a week.
The softening-up aerial strikes were the key.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

The planet lost a world class gentleman last night. RIP President Bush.

Fair winds and following seas sir.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

Rest easy, Mr. President. You served us well.

Re: George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94.

George H. W. Bush...is dead at 94. How do you rank his life, his WWII service, both times at CIA and his presidency ?

I would argue that George H. W. Bush was probably the epitome of a U.S. President who chose to face the grey world honestly while battling supporters and constituents who wanted it to be black and white.

- It was simple to rage and show anti-communist strength during the Cold War, but a fracturing nuclear-stockpiled Soviet Union shattered that comfort. Clinton's campaign, as well as many Republicans, criticized Bush for going soft on the cracking Soviet Union.

- It was easy to run on a campaign of "no new taxes" in 1988, until one has to face the bloat of Reaganomics and then have to raise taxes. Clinton's campaign exploited this, as many Republicans criticized Bush for "lying."

- Selling the Gulf War on the basis of a "New World Order" and the idea that the only mission was to repel Hussein from Iraq, left Saddam Hussein on the throne. Clinton's campaign exploited this "support for dictatorship" as many Republicans criticized Republican leadership (like Rumsfeld) who worried over stability (a Cold War hangover). In one of American history's great twists, just over ten years later it would be the Republicans who enthusiastically cheered the U.S. military into Baghdad to defeat dictatorship and it was Democrats who criticized over fears of instability.

The one undeniable strength that Bush truly had was his experience in foreign policy. But he was unable to use this because the circumstances at the end of the Cold War ushered in a very grey world in which the game was changing. Bush was trapped between a Clinton campaign that used those circumstances to exploit Bush as weak and visionless, and a conservative base that still wanted a black & white world.

The last great man to ascend to the Presidency. Everyone since couldn't have tie his shoes.

(Shouldn't have raised taxes, though)
