Duncan just could not take the MAGA insanity anymore. He was Lt Governor when Trump lost GA in 2020 and he saw all the disgusting hatred from Trump supporters after the election.

He simply had enough. He plans to run for Governor of GA as a Democrat.

I would be willing to bet that the he did not leave the party so much as the party left him.
 
I wish him luck. Duncan is probably too far right to be able to win the democratic primary although he would give the democrats their best chance of winning the governorship. But since choosing the candidate with the best chance of winning been a concern of either major party.

Party switchers usually don't fair well with Trump being the major exception. He has switched parties 7 times so far.
