Alan J. Steinberg, a former adviser to former President George W. Bush, predicted in a recent op-ed that President Trump would not be removed, but would leave office by the end of 2019.

Steinberg writes that he thinks a "forthcoming recession" and "abysmal" approval ratings will lead to Trump making a deal to resign from office to avoid facing criminal charges.
================================================
I'm not for the upcoming recession/depression or market collapse, but I'm all for Trump finding the exit before 2020. Pence is a fundamentalist religious zealot & this makes him vulnerable. I read that 'He talks to God.'

Stranger things have happened. I hope this guy is right. I can't abide the idea of another 2 years of that freak Trump. He will wreck this country for generations if he stays in office.

The Bushes, the G.W. Bush administration were/are all Never-Trumpers. They are biased in their thinking as is this former W. Bush advisor. Reading other current threads, I'm sure this advisor will join the Romney for president campaign for 2020.

Trump won’t step down, he enjoys feeding stupid people ridiculous ****e at his rallies too much, I’m sure he’d enjoy a second time around.

Plus there are some that say by getting a second term he could run out the clock on some legal exposure statute of limitations.

Yes, the Bushes are smart Republicans who can recognize a con man from 50 paces. Bias has nothing to do with it. Love of the country and a lack of desire to see the Republican party destroyed are what made them reject the fraud named Trump, like other smart lifelong Republicans (like me).

I don't adore or hate any politicians. I don't adore or hate people I don't know.

Trump is a fraud, a con man, a lifelong Democrat, and a liar. The Bushes are none of those things. The Bushes served this country admirably. Trump screwed the country.

You want to "adore" Trump, go on ahead. I'll stick with the smart people who reject him.

I hope he resigns, but he would need some pretty powerful deals for pardons before he would. Right now he knows the only thing preventing him (and probably other members of his family) from being indicted is the very fact he is President. He'd need a sweetheart deal before resigning.

Trump is a liar who deliberately feeds the American public disinformation after working with a hostile foreign government to win the Presidency.

That's what I hate. I wonder why you're okay with it...

I somehow doubt that Trump's ego and narcissism would allow him to leave office this year. But who knows. It would be nice if Trump did the honorable thing and quit, but Trump and honor are not synonymous.

I'm OK because there are plausible explanations for some of the 'discrepancies' which you don't care to examine. Why don't you care to examine? Why is every 'discrepancy' a lie?

What this Mr. Steinberg say about all the attacks against GW? Does anyone remember the slogans? "Bush lied...." Hysteria from the left.
Then was Obama, who many thought wouldn't make it through his first term. The marshall law, the fema camps. Hysteria from the right.
Now it is Trump's turn. Hysteria from the left.

George H.W Bush - Couldn't get reelected
George W. Bush - Got elected via voting error in Florida
Jeb Bush - Finished like in 3-5th place for the presidency.

Not that smart, maybe.

George HW Bush - war hero, beloved ex-President
George W Bush - served 2 terms
Jeb Bush - ran in a primary and lost - which makes him not smart?

Fail.

He will do what is best for him. A lot of people have too big of an ego to file for bankruptcy but he did that too.

People humble themselves when they have too unless Trump is willing to lose a massive amount of personal fortune or go to jail, he won't be reckless. He's older now. He wont want to finish his last years in life poor or in complete shame.

Just a prediction by the OP source, nothing more... nothing less. We have enough indication that the only way Trump will leave the presidency is kicking and screaming.

Duh!!!! Anyone can see this coming. When trump was, FIRS, informed that the Russians manipulated OUR national election he didn't respond with horror and outrage; His first comment was "there was no collusion"; pretty much confirming to the world "My Campaign conspired with the Russians for any help they could provide".

Actually when the going gets tough he is the first guy out of the building.

He quit his casino, he quit his university, and has quit numerous marriages.

Trump is the enemy of the people of the USA>

I bet you didn't know that even in a criminal trial, the jury has no duty to rule out all possible alternative explanations that would cause the defendant to be innocent.

I am just flabbergasted you think Bush's people were smart. Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzalez, etc?

Those people were highly incompetent.

I'm flabbergasted that you just lied like a rug.

Point to my posts saying anything about Rumsfeld or Gonzalez being smart, dumb, or anything else for that matter.
