What happened to the lines on the paper? How are kids supposed to spell without the lines?
You need lines to spell? ??
I always start with blank paper so they aren't obsessed with keeping their words on the lines. Instead we get down sentence structure, spelling, grammar, etc. When they get better at handwriting (i.e. smaller), they move to regular paper.
Oh. Almost forgot. I also needed smiley faces or stars drawn on my paper to tell me what a good boy I was.
How about a star or smiley face with a glitter crayon? That's how I roll.
Glitter crayons!!??? WOW!!! We always had to smear paste all over and dump glitter on it. Your way sure seems more effective.
They're awesome. We use them to write spelling words on dark construction paper.
Josie, I have to say that your enthusiasm for glitter markers, stickers and such never fails to put a smile on my face. God bless you for being there for those kids. You remind me so much of Mrs. Holmes, my kindergarten teacher who then became my 1st grade teacher after the other one quit.
You should have him draw a picture of a stormtrooper pig and post it here. One of my first grade boys wrote this today....
