It's not that a god exists, but that there are people who pretend one does.
Man created the idea of god. The fact that there are so many different religions, and variations of single religions... adds weight to that notion. Religions can be created, and have been throughout the centuries. The latest was... Scientology?
Is there something to the fact that Buddhists have killed the least people in the name of our religion, and have no need for a belief in an almighty creator deity?
you are a very new atheist ,isnt it very early to judge me ??

I'm.a very old atheist. Can I judge?
You're a kind person, Medusa. However, there are many inconsistencies regarding religion, and many problems involving it and its followers. It's not personal. There is much about religion that ought to be questioned.
thx but as long as you look for logic ,you wont understand the religions
It would be unreasonable to believe that gremlins exist. Gremlins are considered supernatural. Gods, angels, and demons are supernatural as well. Therefore it'd be illogical to believe in them, too. Santa, unicorns, and a whole host of other "supernatural" concepts exist, but you don't believe in them.
whatever you do ,you can not get over natural disasters .
santa really lived in this world .you can read his real story.
and as a believer i must believe in angels and genies too..
we have no verse about gremlins..
sure we can. we just cant yet. research and development is a wonderful thing. it's why we can live in huge digitally networked cities, fly spaceships, have nuclear reactors, can engineer the planet, and other things now that we could not do 100 years ago. and 100 years from now, we'll be able to do things that make the international space station look like a cotton gin. nature is nothing compared to the intellect of mankind. we have defeated it, as the other poster said, and we will continue beating it until it can no longer threaten us in any way.
i dont support every hi tech development which seems the success of humans but which harms us badly in reality..yes humans can do lots of things but not win natural laws without harming themselves.
"Santa" is not Saint Nicholas of Myra. Like with religion, even the holidays are twisted and changed with the passing of time and societies.
You should question whether or not the Bible (whichever version) was written by worldly men. Regarding Christianity itself there are over 40 different editions. How is one to know which is correct?
indeed, as long as you admit we can win over natural laws, we're on the same page. harm to ourselves is part of the learning curve.
you can not know his story better than me...of course he didnt used to fly with deers in the sky...
and of course i know bible has different versions ,and my priority is always qoran .but the common message of them is the same.

Yet the life of Saint Nicholas of Myra has been transformed over the centuries.. For even greater lengths of time, the same holds true for religions.
You believe in the Koran, but it too is as subjective as the Bible. ...is there any part of you deep down that makes you suspect it was written by men in barbaric times?
if we harm ourselves and our nature ,how can we say we build super civilizations ?
of course i believe human is that evil ,he can destroy this nature to reach a developed civilization.but he cant save himself.
The modern-day version of Santa Claus came from a Coca Cola advertising campaign, it has nothing whatsoever to do with religion.
40? Try over 41,000 different sects of Christianity.
anatolia is the place where christianity spread all over the world ,yes saint nicola lived here and then became a legendary, anyway
yes men wrote these books ,do you think god used the latest software versions to write them
There still remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum of servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking. - Christopher Hitchens
Worldly men wrote these religious books, for various reasons.
by god's inspiration
