I have only one question to ask about the "Holy Land Theme Park for Christians" - Well, maybe 2.

1) Since they are supposed to be spreading the Gospel, do you have to pay to get in?

2) If someone cannot afford to pay admission, will he or she be turned away?

If you think about those 2 questions, then you can only come to the conclusion that this theme park is not Godly at all, but an entity that is in business to make money - To wit: They are whoring God, which is quite an unchristian thing to do. Jesus has quite a lot to say on this subject. Read the part in the Bible about the moneychangers at the Temple.

Article is here.

Wait, they charge admission AND are tax exempt?

Add this to the list of reasons why I am against organized religion......

I would only be interested in going to that theme park if they had a rollercoaster based on the parting of the Red Sea or even a log ride where you ride little Noah's Arks.

How about a ride like... Descent into HELL! Now that would be fun. Especially if they incorporated Dante and had like 9 different levels of the ride.

Or, they could have a Fall of the Heathens ride. Where you start off up real high and just drop into a dark pit of "flames". Those drop rides are always fun.

They should hire me.

What about the smaller booths??

Chuck a small spear through a hole in the side of Jesus, and you win a stuffed Peter doll.

Then you have more in common with Jesus than they do.

It's called the "Holy Land Experience" so are there suicide bombers and helicopters firing missiles into apartment buildings?

What does one have to do with the other? Many tax-exempt non-profit entities charge for whatever they are doing. If I donate to a local non-profit church run hospital I can deduct that from my taxes. I buy lobsters from a local orphanage every year that they sell to raise money, if I send them a donation I can deduct that on my taxes.

So what is everyone's beef? Looks like a religious teaching experience. Most people can't travel to those areas, this gives them a taste of it.

I have a problem with it being tax exempt. They are in this for a profit, and because of that, it shouldn't be tax exempt. You don't make an amusement "Jesus" park and not plan on making a profit.

What next? A tax exempt movie theatre that shows Christian films? Why should ANY religious organization that makes a profit be tax exempt?

Hell (no pun intended), if I make a "Christian" airline in which the planes are covered in Biblical depictions, etc., should I be tax exempt?

I don't have a beef. I just think when you charge $30-40 bucks for admission and you have gift shops selling jewelry, tees, handbags and what not you sort of crossed over into the business world and the tax exempt status becomes a little laughable. I realize they claim they' aren't making a profit currently but eventually they might. I guess I'm jaded and find it hard to believe that the guy who came up with a park where Jesus will be crucified at specific showtimes all week long all year long wasn't thinking of $$$.

There are a lot better ways to "spread" the Christian message then to make an amusement park.

This is an attempt to make money, and to avoid having to pay taxes by using the "religion" card.

Do you know what would ROCK? A "Ride the Cross Rollercoaster" where you got strapped to a cross and SOARED into the Heavens!

Amusement parks are fine, and if someone wants to make a Christian one, that's fine too. But it's not a church, it's not a place of worship, and it has no business being tax exempt.

The beef? Ask Jesus. I think he would have a beef with a religious teaching experience that only taught salvation to those who had money. That is not why Jesus appeared on this earth. You need to bone up on the Beatitudes.

I'm pretty sure making graven images is a sin too. A Christian amusement park seems like it's nothing BUT graven images. Maybe their god will smite it like Sodom and Gomorra.

Ya but this isn't an orphanage or a hospital. It's an amusement park, and (presumably) the profits are going to go into the owner's pocket.

You are factually wrong, it is a non-profit religious entity. Any donations to it are tax-exempt. You would not be able to write off the cost of a ticket because you are receiving something inkind.

, and because of that, it shouldn't be tax exempt. You don't make an amusement "Jesus" park and not plan on making a profit.

Sir you really don't know what you are talking about.
