The MAGA areas will probably have way more deaths but things will spread elsewhere.

Hey sane people. Cut MAGAs completely out of your lives.

"The move would make Florida the first state to end a longstanding – and constitutionally upheld – practice of requiring certain vaccines for school students.

The state health department will immediately move to end all non-statutory mandates in the state, Ladapo said at a news conference. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was also at the event, said state lawmakers would then look into developing a legislative package to end any remaining mandates."

...

All 50 states have had school immunization requirements since the beginning of the 1980s, with incoming kindergartners needing shots to protect against diseases including measles, polio and tetanus. No states require a Covid-19 vaccine for schoolchildren.

...

“We are concerned that today’s announcement will put children in Florida public schools at higher risk for getting sick, which will have a ripple effect across our communities,” Dr. Rana Alissa, president of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, said in a statement."

I saw an article from a young mother asking why people were so worried about diseases she had never heard of. The reason of course is for many years no one had gotten sick from them as everyone was vaccinated.

Good. That's what they voted for, so if it results in something BAD in their future, well, FAFO.

Wonder what the health insurance companies are going to think of that? A lot more claims, esp for childhood diseases, flu hospitalizations, etc.

They'll be abandoning FL as fast as the home insurers have.

This will do wonders for Florida's tourism industry.

Very good point as well. Imagine Orlando as an epicenter for a measles outbreak or similar? Huge national and international airline hub too. Maybe CA will cash in on the tourist $$$.

Ever hear of the law of unintended consequences?

Well, guess what. Health insurance premiums are going up in Floriduh! It is expensive to treat kids with polio and small pox.

If states stop requiring basic vaccines, esp like polio and the "childhood diseases" like measles, etc...other countries may start requiring proof of vax before entry. Some airlines may start requiring it, esp. international flights.

This is so bad I can't award Florida any face-eating leopards. I just feel sorry for them. So much unnecessary suffering headed their way.

So, unvaccinated MAGA kids are going to get stuff and give it to other unvaccinated kids.

When the Covid vaccines were first released, they were distributed based on age or a medical infirmity that made you more susceptible. Until I qualified, I hoped every day that bug wouldn't get me before I got vaccinated. The first day I qualified I was at Walgreens with my sleeve rolled up. Then I got the second shot as soon as I could. Then I got the boosters. So through most of the epidemic, I was fairly relaxed about it. Never caught it. Didn't really worry about it.

I read about people who would not get the vaccine under any circumstances. SMH. Idiots.

Before vaccines even existed and before people even could conceive of vaccines entire families would pray that doctors would come up with something that could stop all of the horrible diseases that were killing their kids and themselves. They prayed for polio to be over.

If you want to get travel insurance when you visit certain countries, you may be required to get vaccines for diseases especially prevalent in, or specific to, those countries. That's been happening for decades.

I live in Florida and I didn't vote for this administration. I don't understand DeSantis at all. He keeps involving himself in these cultures wars instead of actual governing.

He's just an evil asshole.

As Dr. Paul Offit says... It is the arrogance of their ignorance that allows them to say such things.

Thankfully we eradicated smallpox before these idiots came around.

Polio was almost gone... but it is making a comeback.

Well, then, you aren't among the "They" I spoke of. Too bad a lot more of the Not They didn't get out to vote keep to keep the DeSantis crew out of office.

So, before there were vaccines, folks had their own way of dealing with childhood diseases. Here's one story that happened in Utah.

A mother of four children got word that one of the neighbor kids had come down with chicken pox and one of her kids had been playing at that house recently. She anticipated that each of her kids would now come down with chicken pox and realized what an ordeal it would be to nurse each one back to health one after another. So she decided that rather than wait for each kid to get sick, she sent all of her children to the house with the idea that she'd get them all infected together and nurse them all together. That's what she did.

Unfortunately, it was not chicken pox. It was small pox, and all four of her children died.

I blame Biden and the Democrats.

Great point. And/or, their premiums will rise.

(ninja'd!)
