This is how the peaceful people react to riots. They feel they have no other choice.Florida has passed a new law that makes protesting illegal. The Florida says it is about riots, but they have redefined "riot" to basically mean any protest. Interesting parts of the new law are as follows. You can drive your car over protesters with impunity, making it perfectly legal to do so. Stepping into the street during a protest is now a felony. The governor now controls all local safety budgets and local governments can not change any part of the budget without the governor's approval. If you want to see all of the change, look at the new law. The law on its face seems to violate the constitution, but who knows with the present SCOTUS

I should care, why?
Does the 1st amendment mean anything to you?I should care, why?
or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Show me how the law prevents someone from peacefully protesting.Does the 1st amendment mean anything to you?
I doubt that this legislation will survive judicial review. It just too obviously unconstuitional.Part of these new laws are criminalizing these things more (from misdemeanor to felony) so they can suppress more votes.
Complain to a judge if you think its unconstitutional to put any restrictions on peoples rights.Does the 1st amendment mean anything to you?
Show me how the law prevents someone from peacefully protesting.
The line is very blurred.Show me how the law prevents someone from peacefully protesting.
You are not being entirely honest here. (Big surprise, right?)Florida has passed a new law that makes protesting illegal. The Florida says it is about riots, but they have redefined "riot" to basically mean any protest. It depends on whos definition you are using to define what a riot isWas rioting somehow legal in Florida before this new law?
It depends on whos definition you are using to define what a riot is
That is what the 1st amendment exists to prevent happening by an authoritarian government. The state doesn't get to choose who can protest their abuses or when. You just supported fascism and police state tactics. It depends on whos definition you are using to define what a riot is
I can honestly say after all the abuse I have seen from Progressives I can not care in the least that Florida is passing laws to hinder those practices. The line is very blurred.
They deny a legitimate permit for protest and the redress of grievances because of their partisan beliefs. Then claim it's illegal and look the other way while people mow down innocent protesters. The Bill of Rights exists to protect the minority from the beliefs and opinions of the majority trampling on them.
These are the tactics of a police state to prevent any protests of their abuses by denying them a permit and then to mow down anyone who dares to try to gather to protest while the state gives the drivers of those cars immunity from being held accountable for murder.
I would hope so but apparently according to many they are not prosecutable crimes that worth pursuing.Rioting would include destruction of property, looting, violence, etc, correct? Were those things not already illegal?
What abuses are you referring to?I can honestly say after all the abuse I have seen from Progressives I can not care in the least that Florida is passing laws to hinder those practices.
Its for our safety. That is what the 1st amendment exists to prevent happening by an authoritarian government. The state doesn't get to choose who can protest their abuses or when. You just supported fascism and police state tactics.
