If DeSantis is so smart you think he would look at the national reaction to Trump and his handling of the virus and make a course correction if he wants the prize in 2024. His handling of it is abysmal and the pandemic is growing out of control. Pandering to Trumpers in Florida may give him the Governorship but I hope he really likes the job because it will never give him the Presidency.

DeSantis smart? Hardly. The "beauty" of Trumpism is it's stupidity and the lockstep loyalty it requires is constantly reinforced by a multitude of sources and media. When DeSantis dared for a moment to ask Floridians to vaccinate it was met with claims that he was a "sell out" and was taking bribes. He then went out on the road and made a speech that did not even mention vaccines, only that there will be no lockdowns, regulations or mandates while the Delta variant was raging through his state.

Let's not pretend this is a serious debate. This is essentially a disease of the unvaccinated. Around 98% of the hospitalizations and deaths are unvaccinated. I don't know about the 2% others. That certainly isn't an argument for not getting the vaccine. Even condoms aren't 100% effective. That fact isn't a reason to go bare back.
