A coalition of conservative groups wants Sen. Orrin Hatch's flag amendment to be superseded by the judicial nominations. In fact, they have signed a letter addressed to all Republican senators with the contention that using the Senate Floor debate for Hatch's proposed constitutional amendment is a "misguided use of time." Out of 125 conservative organization leaders surveyed, only 18 placed the flag-burning-amendment as a priority issue, but chose the judicial nominations over the flag amendment when asked to choose between the two.
