Anyone can understand Loyalty, but to be consistently loyal to someone who is doing a job you have nominated them for, yet they have been proven over the years to be totally inadequate in their capability to do that job, well loyalty is simply being stubborn.
If this stubbornness is going to affect how the world will judge you, then the loyalty and stubbornness you are displayng becomes rank stupidity.
Great Presidents do not accept that their actions or inactions could be considered as stupidity, so why does this President Bush accept just that.

According to sources, the Army Times is about to run an astonishing editorial, openly calling for Rumsfeld to resign mere days before an election. That's how desperate the military now is.

The army didn't write the editorial. A private media group did.
