Officially, Sweden doesn't keep a record of the languages its inhabitants speak. That fact was infuriating to Mikael Parkvall, a linguist at Stockholm University, so he decided to find out for himself. What is the most popular non-Swedish language in Sweden?

After poring over various statistics and studies, Parkvall came to a conclusion: Arabic was very likely to now be the second most popular language in the Scandinavian country.
Reaping what they've sowed.

It could be helpful selling machines to Arab countries.

Like Saabs?

It would be helpful if the ability to find an article and the ability to cut'n paste it were enhanced by the ability to read it.

Completely !!!

What's your issue?

Re: Finnish was the second language of Sweden for centuries. Now Arabic is overtaking

What's your issue?
What I said.

I wouldn't call it an issue though, certainly not mine.

Re: Finnish was the second language of Sweden for centuries. Now Arabic is overtaking

Your point being? Demographics change, Sweden will still by far be the most spoken language.

It could be helpful selling machines to Arab countries.

Arabic, Mandarin, and Cantonese are considered the three most valuable languages for international business these days. (After English, of course.)

Yeah, it's that simple....demographics change. No particular reason, they just started showing up suddenly, because a cold climate seemed attractive.

Yeah, it's that simple....demographics change. No particular reason, they just started showing up suddenly, because a cold climate seemed attractive.

Again what does it matter?

Yeah, it's that simple....demographics change. No particular reason, they just started showing up suddenly, because a cold climate seemed attractive.
What you are apparently still missing is that the article in no way serves to make the point you are obviously pursuing.

Hence my advice to read it from start to finish.

Destruction of culture is what you get when you allow uncontrolled migration.

Demographics change. Get over it.

Having to do with the content of the article cited in the OP what?

For some reason people don't like being in the middle of war zones.

Who knew?

Re: Finnish was the second language of Sweden for centuries. Now Arabic is overtaking

Why is Finnish no longer the second most spoken language?

Parkvall's study focused on native languages rather than second languages

Now, Finnish is dwindling, with the majority of modern speakers -- Finnish immigrants who moved to Sweden in the 1960s and 70s -- dying out and their children speaking the language rarely, if at all.

Now back to your regularly scheduled "immigrants are bad, mmkay".

That was a lesson hard learned by the world during the Colonization period of Human history. Culture...people, what the hay.

So blame the Finns for no longer migrating to Sweden.

The second most-widely spoken language in Mexico is Nahuatl. There you go. You reap what you sow.

That doesn't give you special rights.

Re: Finnish was the second language of Sweden for centuries. Now Arabic is overtaking

That doesn't give you special rights.

Sure it does. The UN set up special provisions for persons fleeing war zones. Those provision are in fact special rights.

..............with the second most spoken language in Sweden actually being English

The UN didn't give anyone special rights to invade another country.
