Fifth Fleet Commander Dead

You got the reference... Cool.

Motorcycles are cheaper and less embarrassing when you buy the farm.

If I am not mistaken the lead singer of Inxs went out the same way

Unless you are pleasing your self with no pants on at 130 mph when you bought the farm

There has to be more coming that will explain why a high ranking officer facing a generous retirement does such a thing. We know several high ranking retired military, many if not most are USAF. Utah State University did a salute to veterans over Veterans Day that the wife and I got to attend. They even had Col. Gail Halvorsen there. Seems the schools celebrate local veterans every year, my granddaughter invites me to her school. Some years back they had one at a high school and they fired salutes in doors....was very loud.
Go Navy....

GO ARMY! 3peat!

According to some Russia is making a habit out of assignations, and they are very active in the ME. It takes almost no imagination at all to come up with a half a dozen reasons Putin might decide that he wants the Fifth Fleet Commander dead.

Thanks for asking.

Do you mean assassinations ?

Another thread stillborn. Coming and going as it does.

Same as the posts across the threads from over there.

I'm confident the 5th Fleet continues as per in its daily duties. We are meanwhile getting the norm over here, unfortunately.

Maybe you can add a few long, rambling, irrelevant posts with a couple of pictures to spice things up...

Let's get a look at who we're talking about at this thread. The person and the US Naval commander and his charges:

U.S. Navy 5th Fleet In Action

The U.S. Navy 5th Fleet (NAVCENT) is responsible for approximately 2.5 million square miles of area including the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, North Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea. NAVCENT's mission is to conduct maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts, and strengthen partner nations' maritime capabilities in order to promote security and stability in the U.S. 5th Fleet AO.

Donald Trump notwithstanding.

Not rambling enough... Your usual post has multiple paragraphs where you ramble semi coherently and often incorrectly....

How in THE hell do you get Russia out of this???? :peace

SIAP. I can't help myself. The same way you dems got Russia involved with Trump fixing the 2016 election?

Side note: Since a temp is being assigned until a permanent successor is chosen, I wonder, will the permanent successor be confirmed by the Senate?

Command of 5th Fleet is subject to Senate confirmation, yes.

Yeah Hillary baited the Russians with a false flag email operation so the tRumpers would come running to meetings about 'Hillary dirt', and fed tRump lies about a 400 lb guy in his mom's basement running the cyber attacks and social media thousands of lies to include Hillary's crew running a child sex slave ring in a seedy pizza place...

Those bad ol Dems....

So, the temp successor to the Fifth Fleet commander is illegitimate like the acting Attorney General Whittaker?

Hawkeye10:

Bolded word in the quote done by me.

Assignations? Putin and the Russian leadership don't seem to be libertines prone to excessive dating and, ... well you know. Have you seen Sergei Lavrov lately? Who wants an assignation with him? The Kremilin may be dated but I don't think it's dating.

Cheers.
Evilroddy.

PS: My apologies, but I could not help myself. I am a pedantic ass with no self-control here.

Apples and coconuts. You've got the coconuts. Which is why I was pleased to reply thx. Your having the coconuts means you'd have to make your case either way concerning the guy you mentioned by name. Y'know, Whatshisname.

Because as the old saying goes, military music is to music as military justice is to justice. Hence the Department of the Navy and the Department of Justice. The logic of this is btw light years better than the logic of your iron proposition.

It's also the case the acting cmdr of 5 Fleet didn't need to be appointed by Potus so that would leave hack politics out of it. The acting fleet commander was appointed temporarily by the chief of Naval operations who is military chief of the USN -- all of it. That would be Admiral John Richardson whose number one is to win any war that might happen along. Which would mean making sure Trump stays clear of it and the AAG stays there with him.

It has become a duty of the military chiefs to keep a watch on Potus/CinC even if it means cringing regularly at his statements and proposed orders most of which get the deep six anyway. Until justice is served.

I am disappointed that I did not catch that, I usually do better. I am a lifelong bad speller, spell check helps a lot but not completely, as in this case. I am very good with ideas and concepts and spoken English, written English is a challenge.

Hawkeye10:

Yup, I'm a terrible speller and in a permanent state of war with the spell check function, so I hear you, brother.

Well, what was lost in debating gravitas was more than made up for by comedic imagery. The mental moving picture of doe-eyed Kremlin military officers and crisp-suited apparatchiks running around like Slavic Pepe-le-Pews in the Kremlin, furtively darting from door to door, attempting to secretly date each other, in a Moliere Tartuffesque farce set to the Benny Hill theme music, was comedy gold! I almost end peed myself because I was laughing so hard. So thank you for the oversight. It made my day!

Cheers.

So, if POTUS doesn't become involved in the temp replacement it's OK?
Hum. Where'd you get that nonsense? Certainly not The Constitution.

Just on a logical side note, what if there's a federal legal crisis and the attorney general's seat hasn't been confirmed yet? Remember there is no succession process spelled out in The Constitution for attorney general.

Could your apples to coconuts accusation of the comparison between a temp 5th fleet commander and temp attorney general be that it's just a 5th fleet commander compared to possible continual Trump investigations?

Are you talking about "honey traps"?

I've just done some Googling. The Daily Mail is making much of the Navy's not releasing the suicide method or who found him, and I've read elsewhere that that he was murdered by Bahraini security services at the request of Naval Intelligence because he opposed some joint simulated attack in collaboration with the Israeli Navy.

The longer the facts remain unshared, the more conspiracy theories there will be.
