It is my pleasure to share the news that Fidel Castro has at last given up the ghost. May the thousands he murdered, and the many more who he imprisoned and tortured, haunt him.

may the fireworms of hell feast on his eternal carcass
Come on now, give the devil his due.
At least recognize that he successfully overthrew a corrupt dictatorship, repelled an American financed invasion, maintained his independent control over Cuba by some very effective international policy alignments, and outlasted the U.S. Embargo before peacefully turning over the reigns to his chosen successor. The only other modern dictator to do this was Francisco Franco of Spain.
Okay...now he can rot in hell.
Stalin was an effective autocrat too. He still had his pile of corpses. The only reason Castro gets any plaudits is because masochists in the West derive a sick gratification from seeing his ability to 'defy' the US and it's 'capitalist' penetration.
Anxious to see what Trump has to say and does about this..
I would like to see us take cuba under our wing if we can..

He did many good things and many not so good things.
1st world levels of literacy and a longer life expectancy than Americans thanks to the education and health systems. Not so great on the economic front, not helped by a tough US embargo.

It sure took long enough for the CIA's cigars to kill the old bastard. They should have let the mob whack him like Robert Kennedy wanted!
Population so educated they export doctors to needy countries. They train them specifically for where they're going and what resources will be available to them. Pay them, too. Not much, but they don't have much.

He was an example of the worst that humanity has to offer. He did crap for healthcare, declined during his murderous reign.1st world levels of literacy and a longer life expectancy than Americans thanks to the education and health systems. Yeah, what a guy. So did Stalin and Hitler.
He did crap for healthcare...
Always admired that guy. Two autographs I'd love to have, Fidel Castro and Muhammed Ali.

Hope the ****er lands in hell for eternity. Chalk him up there with Hitler, the Kims, Stalin, Mao, and the rest of the lot.
He deserves no sympathy and grief, when evil leaves this world it should be celebrated.
I have seen rather horrific documentary of the health services to the underprivileged in Cuba in relatively left leaning media. One on German television that showed the state of dental care was particularly revolting. There seem to be two narratives. But, if the question is, whether cuba does medicine better than other miserably poor dictatorships, that is probably yes. But the country could be rich and he kept it poor.
