Russia says it is ready to negotiate — on tough terms that would involve Ukraine’s ‘demilitarization’

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was ready to send a delegation to the Belarusian capital, Minsk, for talks but was still expecting the “denazification and demilitarization” of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday addressed Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a video, saying he wanted to “stop the loss of life.”

LVIV, Ukraine — Russian forces pressed closer to the Ukrainian capital Friday as air raid sirens blared and people huddled for shelter in deep subway stations. The Defense Ministry reported “saboteurs” just miles from Kyiv’s center, and the city was jolted by predawn explosions. The Biden administration cautioned lawmakers that the capital could soon fall.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 137 Ukrainians have been killed and 316 wounded after the first day of fighting, and said Russians were targeting civilian areas, not just military sites. He addressed Vladimir Putin directly on Friday, saying: “There are fights all over the country. Let’s sit down.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was ready to send a delegation to the Belarus capital Minsk for talks with Ukraine. But Peskov said Putin would send his hawkish defense and foreign ministers and made it clear that Russia was still expecting Ukraine’s “denazification and demilitarization” of Ukraine, meaning Kyiv’s capitulation.

President Biden is set to attend an emergency summit with NATO members Friday to discuss the invasion, which has interrupted decades of European peace and threatens to upend the post-Cold War security order.

Is Belarus supposed to be safe ground for Zelinsky, the man Putin clearly wants to imprison or assassinate?

There is a referendum vote coming up in Belarus that asks if Belarus should simply fold itself under Russia. I would not touch this offer with a ten foot pole Zelinsky.

I would however agree to talk somewhere as a means to give the west more time to get their thumbs out of their asses.

We need the denazification of Putin's residence.

Russia clearly does not hold the upper hand .

It holds every card in the pack and the US are out .

P.. If Z escapes retribution he can count himself very fortunate .Being a US puppet and doing the bidding of US obligated Oligarchs is close to treason .

Cute when we get posts from outside the solar system.

They are also brilliant .

But mine is straight from the front lines .

Which is why they are 100% right as ever.

You must keep your cool even when you do not get the things you think you want.

i tried really hard not to put her on ignore because the crazy was just so crazy that it was like watching a car wreck.

i'm not so sure anymore. too many car wrecks are bad for the mind.

Wanna negotiate? Okay.

Get every Russian soldier out of Ukraine (yes, including the "free nations of DNR & LNR") and we might...just might, decide not to turn Moscow into a glass parking lot before the beginning of 2023.

There are definitely neo nazi militias in Ukraine but i have lots of doubt they are in control as much as Putin thinks.

That would be stupid.

What they mean is hand the keys to the country to Putin.

Well this turned out to be another Putin sham.

As I posted above Zelensky would have been crazy to have accept any site in Belarus for this "meeting". He rejected it and suggested Poland. Putin called it off.

There was no negotiation. Putin was trying to lure Zelensky to Belarus where he would have been assassinated or imprisoned. Does anybody doubt that?

You think empty threats of a nuclear holocaust will sway Putin or do you just actually advocate destroying America?

Its kinda odd seeing progressives and openly nazi groups aligned together.

When nazis show up to right wing causes the left points to them as evidence that conservatives are basically a bunch of nazis. By that logic I guess progressives are really just a bunch of nazis undercover.

"If you are against Russia murdering innocent people you are pro-nazi!!"
Real forums would just ban people for this kind of trolling.

Keep showing your true colors, trouble13. You're on Russia's side. You're on Putin's side. You're on the side of murdering innocent civilians.

NO, when the pseudo-conservatives of today that would not know a conservative if it hit them over the head attached to a grand piano show up to right wing causes they are pointed out for their dedication to whiteness above all else, to the point of rejecting diversity and even to the point of supporting a murderous thug like Vladimir Putin and Russia over their own country because Putin is white and Russia is mainly white.

The new right, alt-right whatever has got its head so far stuck up its rear end about whiteness that for the first time in my long life it will toss its own President off the cliff to support what is clearly an adversary. DISGUSTING!!!!!

I'm sure it's makes you uncomfortable having this pointed out but it is a fact that when conseratives rally and nazi groups show up, progressives accuse the right of guilt by association.

Guilt by association cuts both ways.

Yet it is the Ukrainian nazis and the american progressives standing united on the world stage.

I don't see any of that. But you are welcome to yet another fantasy of the Right. There is no justification for parroting Putin propaganda. Thinking you can cut away at progressives by parroting Putin propaganda is just too rich. Might play in your silo but nowhere else. Putin's pants are fully down around his ankles now and so are the pants of those that support him, particular those in the west that support him.

This seems rather a likely ploy, given Putin's KGB background, and they do, and have done, that sort of thing on a regular basis, don't they?

A bit below the standard you would expect of a major world leader....but then again maybe I am just giving Vlad too much credit.

So you admit to being on the same side as nazi groups.
