Federal Official Resigns in Protest of Trump Tinkering With Civil Service

If Joe wins just let him fire any person who has ever said one good thing about Donald Trump and then change everything back to the way it was.

What do you think the State Department focuses on? Does Congress pass laws that tell them what countries to make agreements with? Did Congress pass a law that told the State Department to get Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel?

No...all that work was done at the order of the President...you know, the guy who sets policy.

I could go on...HHS, DHS, Commerce...they are work at the direction of the President. They implement HIS policy.
Foreign relations are one of the few areas where the president has some control. Even in those areas Congress holds the purse strings. He has very little control in most areas. Article I of the Constitution enumerates several of Congress’s foreign affairs powers, including those to “regulate commerce with foreign nations,” “declare war,” “raise and support armies,” “provide and maintain a navy,” and “make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces.” The Constitution also makes two of the president’s foreign affairs powers—making treaties and appointing diplomats—dependent on Senate approval.

The vast majority of the executive branch is working on programs prescribed and funded by Congress. I could go on...HHS, DHS, Commerce...they are primarily administering programs initiated by Congress. There’s not much that the president can do there without Congress approving and funding it in those agencies.

LOL!!

Those things you listed are NOT "few areas". They are important policy areas. btw, you left out "securing our borders and protecting American citizens". That's a REAL big one.

But hey...at least you are reading the Constitution. Your education is improving, isn't it?

Your education would improve if you would improve your reading skills. The areas I listed were responsibilities of Congress, not the president and yes you are correct, they are important.

If by securing the borders you mean against immigrants, immigration policy is prescribed by Congress. The President administers the policy.

If by protecting American citizens you mean against threats like a pandemic, it is clear that Trump is an abject failure.
