I guess if you can't get support for amnesty then push it in through the back door.

Feds moving to dismiss some deportation cases | Houston & Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
The Department of Homeland Security is systematically reviewing thousands of pending immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records, according to several sources familiar with the efforts.

Culling the immigration court system dockets of noncriminals started in earnest in Houston about a month ago and has stunned local immigration attorneys, who have reported coming to court anticipating clients' deportations only to learn that the government was dismissing their cases.

Richard Rocha, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman, said Tuesday that the review is part of the agency's broader, nationwide strategy to prioritize the deportations of illegal immigrants who pose a threat to national security and public safety. Rocha declined to provide further details.

Critics assailed the plan as another sign that the Obama administration is trying to create a kind of backdoor "amnesty" program.

The marxist/socialist amnesty democrats in control of washington until Nov are still desperate to stay in power to continue with their ruinous radical socialist agenda. Refusal to now deport any illegal hispanic future democratic voters if amnestied if those illegals don't have a criminal record is in essence a de facto or policy amnesty designed to blatantly hispander to legal hispanics and keep them voting democratic in Nov. The marxist amnesty democratic politicians are blatantly hispandering non stop in an attempt at getting a big hispanic democratic voting turnout for the Nov elections to compensate for a big loss in independent voters in order to try to keep the numbers of marxist amnesty democratic politicians being kicked to the curb by conservativists to a minimum. Granting de facto amnesty or policy amnesty to illegal alien hispanic future democratic voters if amnestied will not bother the rabid radical left wing of the democratic party at all. Sadly there are not many moderate democrats left.

In a June 30 memo, ICE Assistant Secretary John Morton outlined the agency's priorities, saying it had the capacity to remove about 400,000 illegal immigrants annually — about 4 percent of the estimated illegal immigrant population in the country. The memo outlines priorities for the detention and removal system, putting criminals and threats to national security at the top of the list.

wow, the government has now decided that it will allocate its limited resources to eliminate the worst of the illegals ... those with felonies, DWIs, those who committed family violence or sexual crimes

248,000 pending cases and 400,000 potential deportations

this looks like smart governance to me; spending tax dollars where they will do the most good

or would the OP prefer that the undocumented aliens who have otherwise been obeying our laws should be deported instead of the criminal element

Our government gives our tax dollars away to other countries and spends money on bull **** projects and cost is suddenly somehow a issue now? Bull ****, they got the money for it.

If they are here illegally then they have already committed a crime that is punishable up to 6 months in jail. I want all illegals when caught to serve a 6 month jail sentence for the illegal immigration and any other additional sentences for ID fraud and theft and other crimes they have committed. .

Obviously an independent from the democratic ranks as you argue just like a democrat. Our immigration laws clearly state that deportation is the penalty for ANYONE in the US illegally. So how many illegal hispanic future democratic voters if amnestied will ICE now wade though and ignore in order to get to the the criminal aliens with records? One has to assume that the marxist socialist amnesty democrats are only willing to deport the criminal hispanic aliens because with their criminal records they could never be future democratic voters if amnestied.
