Instilling fear is what Trump is all about.

Donald Trump and the Politics of Fear
Trump’s candidacy relies on the power of fear. It could be the only way for him to win.

Donald Trump and the Politics of Fear - The Atlantic

He once before said that "power was about instilling fear"

Trump Once Said Power Was About Instilling Fear.
Feb 4, 2019 - The president has tried to use fear as the prime motivator both with American allies and Democrats in Congress. It has not worked well for him.

As such, my question for all of you "Is fear what drives you?"

Do you believe fear is what makes a person worthwhile? a reason to progress? A reason to improve? or is fear something that draws you down, that makes you less that what you want to be, that is not a basis for being better than you are?

Fear is what Trump pushes

Fear of the Democrats
Fear of the Chinese
Fear of the Mexicans
Fear of immigrants
Fear of protests against injustice
Fear of the media
Fear of change
Fear of science
Fear of socialism
Fear of the unknown
Fear of difference of opinion

Is fear was makes you do things? Otherwise, you would not try to become a better person?

No, not fear but faith.

In my case, love for my fellow human and faith is what drives me.

Trump's fear does not drive me. Once you see it's all pure lies, no fear at all.

Fear-mongering has long been a tool of the right, and Trump wields it well. Anything to aid the Showman-in-Chief.

No, not fear but faith.

Bull****.

Trump supporters have no faith. They have belief, hope, desire to once again dominate the social and spiritual landscape, but they don't have faith. If they did, they wouldn't be afraid all the time. They certainly wouldn't be afraid of just about every group of people that Jesus told them to love.

Faith? Fear is not faith so then why does Trump instill fear and not faith? Faith makes you believe in something and believe in yourself for doing what is right and what is just. Fearing others is not faith. Jesus was not afraid of death and that is what made him go forward. He did not instill fear, he instilled determination to be better than the others, not kill them and destroy them but to be better than them.

Try to follow along please. The OP asked "Is fear was makes you do things?" I answered. You seem to be confusing the singular and the plural. You surely aren't presuming to tell me, a stranger, why I live my life as I do...are you?

The enlarged right amygdala common in conservatives is associated with strong reactions to threats to the tribe.

Whether they were born that way or it is the result of the thirty years of cynical, intensive conditioning their media has facilitated is still unknown.

But the trump era sure has flipped the script on republicans.

Us liberals are now cuck snowflakes in need of a safe space AND anarchist fascists (I know there is no such thing as a fascist anarchist). Something to be mocked as weak and feared so much they need unmarked men with guns to deal with them.

But it's the trump era, where they could talk smack about pedophiles while dandling a little girl and their minions wouldn't bat an eye.

Faith? Fear is not faith so then why does Trump instill fear and not faith?

I can't answer your question. Trump doesn't instill anything in me.

And there it is. The predictably defensive reaction that makes my point for me.

Notice that nota didn't try to deny what was said. She simply tried to swat it away with the latest failed attempt at nitpicking a trivial point so that she wouldn't have to face the much larger point.

Fear is what almost always drives hate, hence why the right has nothing left but hate.

But fear is what he does all the time. You do not listen to him? You do support him, don't you?

Anyone with any sense fears socialism.

What a lame try. I'm not being at all defensive; you're projecting.

Keep making this all about you, when my post was obviously not about you at all. I love it when my opponents provide a perfect example of a point I am trying to make. :)

"Fear" does NOT drive me.

Sheer TERROR drives me.

I am terrified when I see grinning looters laughing when they destroy people's livelihoods.
I am terrified when I see a "child" suddenly sucker punch a passing pedestrian, who falls to the ground. (That could have been I.)
I am terrified when I read this morning that the Speaker of the House feels that Republicans are "domestic enemies."

I wish that there were more Trumps as mayors and governors.

But I know that he will supposedly lose on November 3 and that his enemies are salivating at the thought of sending him to prison.

You betcha I'm terrified.

No, I don't listen to him much, only catch sound bytes and read the daily "two-minute hates," when forced, here at DP. Trump doesn't have an impact on my life. I leave the frothing-at-the-mouth pathologies to others. Trump is boorish and beset by character flaws, but I'm neither a fan nor an "Orange Man bad" person.

Lotta irrationality going around on all sides. It's stupid and counterproductive, but as I've said, my eye is elsewhere.

The first two sentences are one of the most honest things I've seen a 45 supporter admit.

I'm sure he is not in any way afraid of actual threats to him. Like fascism, oligarchy, and a literal pandemic.

It's not a matter of fear, It's reality of the situation to make sound decisions.
Concern about democrat policy...you bet.

Chinese hegemony, trade practices.

mexicans, illegal immigration is a crime with many side effects.

Protests against injustice.. Riots are a crime and an injustice to the victims of the riots.

Change...depends on from what to what. Not all change is good.

Socialism.. that's not who we are or want to be.

media.. much of it is propaganda for the benefit of democrats.

Your bubble sounds very comfortable.

It very much is. I have little control over what others think or do, and especially in this time of COVID and "hunkering down," I'm keeping my focus on my family and on my work for a charitable org. Writing radio spots this morning while waiting to learn whether my family member at the ER has a sprained or broken ankle. Pipe exploded in my bathroom Saturday, and plumber found wood ants under the house, so I'm about to call the exterminator. Watching Hurricane Laura. BFF has already evacuated from the coast. Real life, you know. ;)

Then you are the exception and not the rule as Trump has grabbed most everyone by the balls and by the ***** and has not let go.

Evidently, that is not something that has happened to you.

You are sowing fear yourself. What every person should do is not see what others are doing but do yourself what you expect others to do. Be a role model person for what you dislike and fear in others. All changes start within us. How can we expect others to be what we want them to be if we can't be that ourselves first?
