Favorite Food?

I must agree with aps (not the stuff about his mother, who I know nothing about :p, but about the favorite food part :D)

How dare you insult my momma! ;)

I'm a woman, by the way.

Yeah, Red Lobster's not exactly on the cutting edge of gourmet cuisine. Try an Italian place for calamari. My daughter loves it, too. She also likes sushi and will slurp down a piece of raw squid, suckers and all, faster than you can say jack rabbit.

LOL I'm not too impressed with Red Lobster. I have been there ONE time and will not go back.

alpheib, do you have a Trader Joe's near you? They sell calamari frozen. You could easily bread it yourself and then fry it up in a pan......

Also, Whole Foods has the best seafood. I have been going there for years and have had a wonderful experience with their seafood.

mixedmedia, the stew and collard greens sound yummy.

It's weird, you know, I am 40 years old and my mother's cooking around the holidays still makes me feel all gooey inside. Like my senses can transcend the passed years and recreate another time and place. Hopefully my kids will feel the same way about mine one day.

That's really cute, mixedmedia. I hope you tell your mom what her cooking does to you. I am sure your kids will feel the same way. I don't think I realized I had it so good until I went to college. While I am an easy eater and liked college food, it never compared to my mom's home cooking.

My mom's cooking does the same thing for me. Whenever our family gets together, we all reminisce about certain meals we loved as we grew up. My mom loves to hear about this.

Oh, she knows alright. She doesn't cook much anymore, only around the holidays, but it hasn't diminished her ability. If I have about 1/10th of her talent in the kitchen, I'll consider myself lucky.
