'Fani Willis breaks silence on misconduct accusations'

Concerns about DA Willis's private life should be covered in tabloids and not factual publications. Judge her and her other team members on their job performances, not personal relationships - true or untrue.




Willis, speaking Sunday with a congregation at the Big Bethel AME Church ahead of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, did not directly address the allegations of an improper relationship with Wade, but fiercely rejected claims she acted improper in hiring Wade in the state’s election interference case involving Trump and more than a dozen co-defendants.



“I’m a little confused. I appointed three special counselors. It’s my right to do, paid them all the same hourly rate. They only attack one,” Willis said Sunday. “I hired one white woman, a good personal friend and a great lawyer, a superstar, I tell you. I hired one white man — brilliant — my friend and a great lawyer. And I hired one Black man, another superstar, a great friend and a great lawyer.”

She did not directly reference Wade by his name, but defended the lawyer’s “impeccable credentials.”

“The Black man I chose has been a judge for more than 10 years, run a private practice more than 20 [years],” Willis said. “Represented businesses in civil litigation … served a prosecutor, a criminal defense lawyer, special assistant attorney general.”
 
Willis didn’t address any of the concerns laid out in the filing. Surely Georgia doesn’t suffer from a lack of public prosecutors so why did she appoint a private attorney (Nathan Wade) to the role of special prosecutor and pay him nearly $700,000 and counting? Surely no reasonable person believes that the extramarital affair with him - which is at the center of his ongoing divorce proceedings - didn’t play a role in that decision.

First, the orange text that you added in my quote leans more towards tabloid chatter. There's not much difference between a friend and a boyfriend when one speaks to others about their friend. She was at church.

He may not have been my choice to add to her team however the others on her team are more creditable. I believe that many prosecuting teams in cases will have a member or two that's not up to par as much as their team members. Besides, doesn't that bring you joy if Mr Wade isn't as experienced with RICO, when going up against these defendants?

Four codefendants of Trump pleaded guilty and are cooperating.
 
She appointed her lover, who had no history of criminal prosecutions, no experience with Rico cases and with whom she paid over $650,000 and has been reportedly traveling with him on vacations. This is not proper conduct and she should be fully investigated and if these are indeed truthful accusations, fired and possibly prosecuted.
 
And how is this hurting the defendant?

That payment to Judge Wade is for his investigative services during 2022 and 2023. Payments to a single lawyer of more than a $million per case seems insane.

Judge McAfee will hold a hearing in Feb to determine if it is improper or not.
