Righto, putting it simply, the old testament was too harsh, the new testament made god a more loving caring god. I've always heard you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. The new testament was written for damage control purposes..
The guys who wrote the old testament got carried away and declared a fair, just, and loving God to be a God that willfully drowned every single newborn, infant, toddler, and child because of the actions of adults. It's a hard sell to convince a logical, rational, critical thinker that perpetrating such a deed qualifies the deed as being "fair, just, and loving".
Two things.Imho, I find false teachers to be worse than atheists.....................as far as which one poses more danger to FAITH and to the Church of Christ.
I was about to ask that question. Two things.
First, the fact that there are thousands of denominations and each disagrees with the others, at least in part, on what the correct teachings are.....proves how stupid and fictional Christianity is.
I would think an actual god could arrange to have a book written that wasnt so God awful vague and contradictory that it means all kinds of things to all kinds of people and is often used to justify the most evil things.
Secondly.
What is wrong with atheists?
Given the technology that exists, an all powerful god could easily communicate his exact wishes to all of humanity clearly and concisely.I would think an actual god could arrange to have a book written that wasnt so God awful vague and contradictory that it means all kinds of things to all kinds of people and is often used to justify the most evil things.
"The New Covenant is the promise that God will forgive sin and restore fellowship with those whose hearts are turned toward Him. Jesus Christ is the mediator of the New Covenant, and His death on the cross is the basis of the promise (Luke 22:20). The New Covenant was predicted while the Old Covenant was still in effect—the prophets Moses, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel all allude to the New Covenant."With whom by whom?
I hope the new covenant's promises are better than the donald's, after all he is the gop's god."The New Covenant is the promise that God will forgive sin and restore fellowship with those whose hearts are turned toward Him. So, @tosca1, I have question.
If two people disagree on the meaning of a particular bible passage, does that automatically mean that at least one of them is wrong?
If the propensity to lie is connected to falsity the most obvious false teacher of our times is Donald Trump ..?? No matter the origin of falsity it seeps into all areas….including religion IMO…..
"The Bible"They'll have to make sure their translation(s) aren't in any conflict with the Bible.
That's how we discern.
Both could be wrong, too.
There's no way of knowing who first created the stories about these imaginary gods, or the changes that occurred before they became fixed in written form.Anyone who spreads false teachings, would be a false teacher.
So I suppose, if we aren't clear on something - it's best to just keep it to yourself, or be honest about it and say you don't know..
There's no way of knowing who first created the stories about these imaginary gods, or the changes that occurred before they became fixed in written form.
If only that was done thousands of years ago, many lives would have not been lost in the name of god(s), and threads like this would not exist today.
"The Bible"
Which Bible would that be?
That's a dodge and you know it. I have over a dozen bible translations. They are not all the same.Mainstream Bibles that are used or recommended by scholars.
You can google them.

Please answer the question. Which translation is the correct one?
I have no problem being made aware of what some believe, until an attempt is made to promote it as fact. This thread is on the premise that false teachers believe in what you say is an IMAGINARY GOD.
CHRISTIANS, in particular.
They believe in the Scriptures. The Book that we Christians know as the BIBLE.
Ignoring what has historically been proven to be relevant only indicates a belief in false teachings. You're giving an irrelevant argument.
If members in this forum simply know - and can tell - where and when their argument is appropriate..........................we won't have unnecessary interruptions such as this.
I don't want this thread to be derailed by ignorant responses.
Have a nice day.
Which translation is the correct one?
Not at all...it takes both...remember, one is to take ALL scripture into consideration, not cherry pick....2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible is useful and beneficial for teaching whereas John 16:13 informs us that when the Spirit comes “he will guide you into ALL truth”…..this is a huge difference.
I agree. This indirectly points to one of the fallacies of the church. Many in the church have total reliance on the Bible…..2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible is useful and beneficial for teaching whereas John 16:13 informs us that when the Spirit comes “he will guide you into ALL truth”…..this is a huge difference. The church is tied to a book but God is beyond that. Thus we argue about a book but are unable to speak with familiarity of the Spirit. If God is universal then so is the Spirit……the Spirit cannot be exclusive to Christianity. Without the Spirit a correct translation of the Bible is simply a matter of personal opinion…..
. Nitpicking over minutia is a waste of time.
