So, who's getting the game tomorrow?

I wish I had the time to even think about playing a game. My free time gets spent either here at DP or with friends.

I have sworn off games for right now. I have lots to do and the distraction would be a disservice to my family.

Damn, you guys are no fun :2razz:

I am on the try before I buy plan for the game, but I am almost certain that unless the new developers (edit: the "new" old developers) really screwed with the game since fallout 3 I will be buying it. I will then rely on it and Civ V to fill two distinct niches and entertain me through the long void of unexciting game releases until next spring.

I'll give it a whirl when someone uploads it to a torrent.

Right now, Direct2Drive wants $55 for a most likely, very buggy, somewhat unstable game.
As much as I love Bethesda and Zenimax games, I can't justify spending the money unless I know it will work well on my pc and as marduc said, I want to make sure they didn't screw the pooch on it's development.

I will be keeping an eye out for that myself, the European release date is the 22nd, so there may be a few days lag time until it makes its appearance.

Loved Fallout 3.

But Fallout New Vegas doesn't seem like it's truly offering anything new to the table, the environments and weapons all seem like "same old, same old".

Plus after the disapointment of medal of honor, which I payed full price for btw. No way I'm risking it yet til I know it's good.

Im going to get it and play the crap out of it over xmas break.

Is Fallout 3 any good? I watched several videos on You Tube about Fallout 3, and it didn't look too good, at least from what I watched. Looks like it starts you out as a baby, and you have to go through a learning process as a child and then on from there. I like an action packed first person shooter. Now, I did like the Stalker series, even though you weren't always shooting up every thing, but the potential was there because the environment was so dangerous and filled with mutants. Any thoughts on this one?

the intro portion that occurs in the vault when you are taking your "baby steps" and growing up is brief and a tiny fraction of the entire game, and basically serves as a tutorial before you venture out into the huge world that is wide open for you to explore at will - you literally can go wherever your feet take you whenever you feel like it (although some areas it is a lot easier to die in than others), and there is no lack of interesting discoveries to stumble upon as you roam about. IMO Fallout 3 is one of the best RPG/shooter hybrids ever (even better than ME2 which I love).

The graphics may throw you off at first they're a little odd and not as 'tight' as alot of other games. The game is frankly worth every penny.

Okay, I disagree with the bolded statement, but yeah thats a pretty good summery.

its not easy to say that and the only reason it beats ME2 is because it is so very non linear. Fallout 3 does not force you down a narrow path and you have options in how you can execute your attacks and there is a huge potential for numerous strategic options such as the obvious ability to flank your foes that the non linear world opens up.

Yeah, I'm the opposite. The story line, the combat, the choices that effect the world, and the ability to transfer your character over from ME1 make ME2 the best game I've ever played. Just topping out Fallout 3.

Sounds like the game I'm looking for. That's basically the way Stalker played, except the radiation kept you from going certain places until you had enough money to buy a decent radiation suit. When you had the weapons and the equipment, the world was yours for going there.

which are all things that make ME2 a fantastic game as well, had you asked me on a Sunday or a month that did not end in -ber or the letter "Y" I would have likely said that is the better of the two; however, it is a Monday in October so Fallout 3 won :).

I have a few ME and ME2 saves sitting on my hard drive just waiting for the day :)

Next topic which is better Ferrari or Lamborghini?

Yeah, basically, you really can't go wrong with either. Bioware, and Bethesda are easily the best makers of RPG's out there. I've never seriously played games on a PC (I'm a Mac girl) but I'm seriously thinking of getting a PC for The Old Republic coming out. It looks that good.

I was going to, but I can't find my ATM card.:x:x Fortunately, I just got around to getting Bioshock, a- ****ing - mazing.

I never finished Fallout 3. Just didn't get into it enough.

Besides, I just bought a stack of used Mario games for the anniversary.

Same here. I found Fallout 3 to be kind of boring. I never had enough interest to get past the part with the VR system showing a 1950s neighborhood.

Right now I am playing around with a game called minecraft, which is basically a big set of legos. It only costs about $10 too.
