Fake drug checkpoint in Mayfield Heights is legal, experts say

Not sure they're doing it here anymore, but Florida has been practicing that as long as 15 years ago on the interstates.

A friend of mine played along with their little game once at 3AM, just to force their hand. Funny story, but when pushed for a warrant they backed down and told him to leave. :lol:

kudos to your friend
if more would act like that, causing the police to spend their time responding to false positives, this would become a much less viable policing method

yes, but it is a convenient tool for the law enforcement community
they can 'get tough on crime' by evidencing their drug arrests (usually weed taken from stoned users)
otherwise, the public would question why so much money is spent for so few apprehensions of evil doers


and notice how arrests climb beginning in august of each election season
