Think about it, if we really wanted to know, or have a pretty good idea of just how many people support Trump or not, Facebook probably already has this information. They know, for example, how many people like french fries, or how many like cats and dogs, or how many support LGBT rights, or.. put in whatever variable here:________________

Anyone think for a second that FB doesn't have this information based on their users and their
algorithm​

So, Facebook, please tell us. How many of your users like or dislike Trump. We're waiting.. ;)

They won't do that because of "privacy" issues.

However, if you really want to know, just start putting together a Facebook ad that targets Trump supporters. That's the easiest way to get a semi-accurate count.

Sounds inappropriate. Especially if Facebook has a dog in the hunt.

Even facebook has a sampling bias. People on facebook tend to skew slightly younger than the general population. There's also plenty of people on facebook who put no indication of their political preferences the site. I myself have seen all kinds of adds from the Republican party of South Carolina. There are few people in the world more anti Republican than me so facebooks algorithm still has a lot of flaws in it.

Trump is super popular but a lot of his supporters are in hiding or in the closet. What we do know is that a lot of the policies supported by the Democrats are super unpopular so many Democrats will either stay at home or secretly vote for Trump in private.

A lot of people in this country are hypocrites. Men would vote against abortion laws but would demand their wife/girlfriend/mistress to have an abortion. Many whites voted against equal rights for blacks and called them subhuman but would have relations with blacks themselves.
 
It's not like everyone uses facebook.

I hope you realize that Facebook has had this kind of information on its users for years.
 
The keyword search results for those things are presumed positive. That doesn't work for politicians.
