FAA Issues Temp. Flight Restriction Over Texas Bridge At Border

It can be tough for government agencies to fly planes/copters/drones through swarms of private drones (all no doubt looking to send footage to Newsmaxx).

There might also be intelligence we don't know about regarding plans to use drones in terrorist attacks. After all, guess who the biggest domestic terror threat is these days and guess who they might wish to attack in that particular area...

😂 😂 Biden just doesnt want the American people to see his other disaster on the border. But he can always count on people like you to run flack for him

Their echo chamber babble cup runneth over... Not the only forum thread on the continued border crisis Biden created.

The NOTAM (notice to airmen) specifies drone ops from the surface to 1000’ within 2nm.

1st point - the restriction probably doesn’t hinder drones with good quality cameras.

2nd point - doesn’t apply to commercial ops with a valid statement of work and waivers can be gotten (relevant parts below).

They’re probably much more worried about some fool who doesn’t know what he’s doing hurting someone.
——————————-

A. UAS OPS MAY BE AUTH WI THE DEFINED SSI AIRSPACE IF IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RQMNTS LISTED BLW: 1) UAS OPS IN DCT SUPPORT OF AN ACT NTL DEFENSE, HOMELAND SECURITY, LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIREFIGHTING, SAR, OR DISASTER RESPONSE MISSION; 2) UAS OPS IN SUPPORT OF EVENT OPS; 3) COMMERCIAL UAS OPS WITH A VALID STATEMENT OF WORK; 4) MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF AN APPROVED SPECIAL GOVERNMENTAL INTEREST(SGI) AIRSPACE WAIVER; 5) AND COMPLY WITH ALL OTHER APPLICABLE FEDERAL AVIATION REGULATIONS.

Then the powers that be need to get out in front of the reasoning for the restriction, imo!

No different in issuing NOTAM's for airspace over wildfires. When drones intrude it shuts down air attack and resonance flights over the fire.

Temporary flight restrictions are normal. They happen all the time for things like natural disasters, big outdoor sporting events/concerts, Presidential speeches etc.

The decisions are pretty routine operational ones and happen at levels in the FAA way below that of the administrator.

Oh, this can be said to be “over a wildfire!”

Dovetails nicely with this NOTAM:

Especially when a Presidential administration doesn't want the public to see policy failure in action.
Ahh no.

Lots of people on the ground and a likely large number of LEO helicopters as well a news helicopters (yes that’s right the restrictions are for drones there’s nothing there stopping choppers with news crews and cameras).

The problem in a tiny nutshell is that drone operators don’t talk to ATC. Normally not an issue because they operate a low altitude - less than 400 feet iirc. Here there’s liable to be lots of low level traffic and the drones would represent a threat to them.

This is exactly the kind of situation that TFRs are meant for. You don’t need to invoke anything sinister.

funny.
My point. Many agencies have safety rules that when drones are in the area, no mission flights will be conducted till the area is cleared of the drones.

But hey, maybe some of the illegals will start some wildfires that will justify the NOTAM,

LOL. right. And just like that, the restriction was lifted. The drones are flying again. I guess the only people the administration was fooling were on this thread.

Really? Where do you see that? There‘s an amendment that changes the TFR dimensions and height and changes the end date to 9/23 but it is still in effect as per the FAA notam database.

If you read the notam you’d know that it included provisions for people to request waivers. I noted that in my initial post on this topic.

It also completely undermines the silly argument that this was political. So today’s outrage is officially DOA.

It was a true miracle. Let the drones fly!
What a hot mess the Biden administration is.
