Last year, a little old couple died when someone threw a lit cigarette butt outside their home, which caught their house on fire.

This morning, a firefighter was injured and 29 people were displaced from their homes becuase of inappropriate disposal of a cigarette. While the article I site says that the cause is still being investigated, this news channel is saying that hte cause is a cigarette.

You f ucking scumbags. While slowly killing yourself, you injure others in multiple ways all becuase of a dirty, nasty, repulsive habit.

trust me, you wouldn't want to-they smell funny,

been there done that-never again

TurtleDude, while I don't like you, I feel guilty about something, which I must confess. I have put you on my "ignore" list. Thus, I am not able to read your posts. I feel guilty if you are taking time to respond to my posts when I am not reading them. I know it's lame, but I won't waste my time on people who go out of their way to insult me. There's a part of me that feels sorry for you because your constant reminder to everyone here that you're a lawyer says something about your level of insecurity. You like to point out your education and where you went to undergrad and law school. You also went out of your way to belittle me because you suspect that I haven't gone to as good a law school as you. So what? Based on how old you are, I would think you would be more secure with yourself and your level of intelligence. Those who are secure with themselves (1) don't need to brag all the time and (2) belittle others. It makes me feel sad for you.

So if you're responding to my posts thinking that I am reading them, I'm not. The only time I can see them is if someone else quotes someting you say.

Good luck.

I would be embarrassed to allow some substance to have that much control over me. Utterly embarrassed.

I honestly don't understand why a smoker would need to smoke a cigarette in a car and then throw it out of the car... Why wouldn't they throw it in an ashtray or a can or something inside the car? It can't be because of the smell, you've already smoked the cancer stick... the smell is IN the car...

Do they really not care about what it could hit? Like dry grass or even an open topped car behind them?

just my 2 cents....

Why don't read his posts to me before you open your trap (well, type a post). Do a search. The man has been so objectively rude to me, that I put him on ignore. I was feeling GUILTY about him showing up in all my threads because I wasn't reading a thing he said (unless someone quoted him). That is why I let him know he was on ignore. Additionally, I wanted to provide a rationale for why I put him on ignore so that he would understand (not that he cares).

It's interesting to me that you would say I am "all kinds of biatchy" today when you have attacked me twice today. Look in the mirror when you say that.

reagan, I cannot fathom that mentality. I could have a snotty tissue in my possession, but I will hold onto that thing until I can find a proper way to dispose it. I watch people enter the Metro here and throw their butt on the ground. When I am crossing the street in a crosswalk, cigarette butts are all over the place. When I do a clean-up in my neighborhood, 90% of what I pick up are cigarette butts. Smokers seem to think that the world is their ashtray.

The Washington Post has an article called "Dr. Gridlock." There were multiple articles devoted to throwing out cigarette butts out car windows. People complained that one came into their car and landed on their baby in the back seat. Things like that. Dr. Gridlock solicited smokers who throw their butts out the window to explain to us why they did that. I couldn't believe the answers. "I want to keep my ashtray for loose change," "I don't want it in my car," and other selfish reasons.

I didn't attack you twice today. I pointed out that you seem a little moodier and more hysterical today. Besides I'm bitchy, rude, and obnoxious everyday but that's cause I enjoy such behavior and so many are so derserving of it:mrgreen:

Oh and you're right I haven't been reading his post so I'm clueless. I sorta skim while I'm doing other things and there are certain people I'm sure to read and others I skim over. I don't recall reading any of this guys stuff.

If Turtlerude's debating skills are any indication of his courtroom prowess,
he must lose every case!

He's pretty knowledgable when it comes to music, though.

Here's the story about the little old couple: http://www.nbc4.com/news/7823001/detail.html

Coalition calls on tobacco companies to reduce cigarette-ignited fires and save lives
Fire service, health, and consumer organizations ask tobacco companies to produce only fire-safe cigarettes

Cigarette-ignited fires are the leading cause of home fire deaths in the United States, killing 700 to 900 people annually. Additionally, thousands of victims suffer devastating burn and lung injuries, and property losses total millions of dollars each year. One in four cigarette fire casualties is not the smoker and many of the victims are children. [This pisses me off! If the smoker dies or is severely injured, I don't have much sympathy. But an innocent victim is a totally different story!]

“Because of a smoldering cigarette, my life and others’ were changed drastically,” said Cathy Hedrick, whose son, Kenny, a firefighter in Prince George’s County, Maryland, was killed in a cigarette-ignited fire attempting to save the life of a seven-year-old child who also died. “The technology is available now. Industry and government must do everything in their power to save children and firefighters.” . . .
