I'm not usually one for 9/11 conspiracies. For me it's clear that there were hijackers, they flew planes into buildings, and the standard narrative makes sense.

What I've heard recently does raise a few questions for me and I'd just like to know what's the standard narrative on this. There were reports from eyewitnesses of explosions from the basement of the World Trade Center. The lobby was a mess, and sound came from below, not above. Then there's also George Stephanopoulos talking about smoke in the subway (unless I'm misunderstanding and he's talking about after the collapse?). How does that happen from explosions way high up in the building?

Anyway, I (with my nonexistent knowledge of engineering) have no idea what to make of these, so I wanted to know what's the standard response to this. Thanks!

I'd heard the idea that was the jet fuel pouring down the elevator shafts before or as it caught fire.

Even the massive air pressure changes from the plane striking could cause what would seem like an explosion in other parts of the building.

Ohhh, that Basement.

That appears to be the best hypothesis, for setting off charges in the basement in order to induce a top down collapse is somewhat ludicrous.

That sounds plausible enough to me.

Some witnesses claim to have heard explosions from above and below at different times. Does this explanation work for that testimony?

I'm talking about reports of an explosion well before collapse. The plane crash is enough to cause total collapse, I think.

Maybe? Once the fire started spreading around the building, the possibilities increase rapidly. Any sort of airtight areas are going to make a pop when they get breached. Anything volatile being stored in office space could go up. I heard one of the smaller building's diesel supply for it's backup generator got involved. Even just the massive shifting of weight in the structure could make for some pretty alarming noises.

Hadn't thought about power backup. That would certainly cause some loud noises.

Yes, I'm fully aware of Rodriguez's claims and how they are employed as evidence for a controlled demolition by the CTist's. The fires caused the collapses, not the impacts.

See the Naudet Brothers footage when the FDNY first entered the lobby and noticed the damage from the fuel exploding in the elevator shafts.

Are you familiar with the testimony of Willy Rodriguez and his workmates? Probably not, or you wouldn't have started this thread.

He was there. His testimony was taken by the 911 Commission behind closed doors because his testimony knocks the legs out from under the official myth.

Is one of these witnesses William Rodriguez? If so, William has embellished his description as time went on. The more exposure he got, the more he embellished his story. Here is a link to William's description the day of the attacks along with an excerpt.

CNN.com - Transcripts
RODRIGUEZ: I was in the basement, which is the support floor for the maintenance company, and we hear like a big rumble. Not like an impact, like a rumble, like moving furniture in a massive way. And all of sudden we hear another rumble, and a guy comes running, running into our office, and all of skin was off his body. All of the skin.

No explosion being described. Two "rumbles".

Below is also a good read and an excerpt from it regarding William and the supposed explosions.

In 2005, Rodriguez made this claim: "I met with the 9/11 Commission behind closed doors and they essentially discounted everything I said regarding the use of explosives to bring down the north tower." Yet the handwritten notes by his two interviewers show no such claims about explosives, just as Rodriguez made no such claim in TV interviews in 2001 and 2002, in his statement to NIST, or in his 2004 conspiracy lawsuit against the United States.

Let's not forget those who support the theory that a nuclear bomb went off in the basement. Is it not amazing that if it was a nuke that Rodriquez was able to survive being that close to the nuclear blast? I have never found any reports that Rodriquez suffered from radiation poisoning or has developed illnesses similar to some of the first responders who worked the WTC site. One lucky guy.

Let's all hold hands and pretend that burning office furnishings and gravity caused the damage observed! It's so much fun that way, so very blissful! :lamo

The damage observed was caused by the aircraft, as well as the fires ignited by the fuel loads. No wonder you believe the silly nuke story, for you don't seem to know the subject. Did you fall for the Space Beams theory as well?

Not just any nukes but MAGIC nukes that somehow exploded and did explode while emitting and not emitting radiation all in the basement which caused the towers to start their collapse many stories above ground where the planes (that didn't exist) struck the towers.

There was evidence of an explosion low down in the towers. My hunch was that the plane strike severed and shorted high voltage lines in high floors which had circuit protection, switching and distribution and so forth in the base of the building where the feeders can in from the Con Ed 7wtc sub station. The main Con Ed feed was split and the voltage lowered and went up to the main mech floors where it was then split again and voltage lowered and distributed to the office floors.

The plane strike short caused an instantaneous electrical event in the sub basement switching of some of the 13.8kv equipment. THAT was the explosion in the sub basement. If any doubts the force or destructiveness of a 13.8kv transformer of circuit explosion.... google them on the www.

It's hard to believe that severed high tension risers were not the explanation for loss of power and the explosion in the sub basement.

Your hunch is contradicted by Rodriguez' and workers' statements that the explosion in the basement happened just moments BEFORE the airplane struck the tower.

Desperate is as desperate does Sander. Chronic denial serves you well.

Amazing how the Rodriguez story changed as he became more popular with the CD supporters. What the supporters shy away from is how Rodriguez survived a nuclear blast when he was so close the basement nuke. No health issues have developed since 9/11 for Mr. Rodriquez. How about those who Rodriquez helped out? Seems they also avoided the nuclear radiation health issue.

Cherry picking testimony and data to fit ones delusion is typical of those who believe in the CD of the towers. They just can't accept they are wrong.
Some say it was a normal nuke (Russian scientist), Prager says it was mini neutron bombs, AE911T says no nukes but nanothermite ), Keep supporting the CT authors, they got to make a living . :lamo

Oh dang I missed that part the magic nukes also exploded before the impacts but I guess they managed to stave off gravity for about an hour before allowing the buildings to collapse

I mean your inane nuke theory fails in every single aspect imaginable.
But then what do you expect from a "flight instructor" that thinks its hard to lose altitude in a turn.

the electrical short and explosion was instantaneous with the plane strike... but the sound of the plane slamming into the tower can more than a second later because sound travels so slot and electricity so bloody fast. Look it up.

Did you every see lighting and then a few seconds later hear the thunder clap? There ya go.

If it was a nuke in the basement it had to be one weak nuke to leave the buildings standing for almost an hour before collapse.

I bet some believe the government paid off all the doctors and specialist to not say anything about radiation poisoning for the first responders. Interesting that nothing made the CT circuit regarding the large numbers of civilians who were covered in the dust on 9/11. What about their health? Did they come down with the same type of illness? Medical evidence supports it was the long term exposure to the fine toxic dust at the WTC site that has lead to some of the illnesses the first responders have.

Noted, no real word out of Alaska on the WTC 7 study. The one where Husley was going to be fully transparent and open. The study that started with a conclusion and then is trying to prove it. The two year study that has now gone well beyond the two years.

The correct term for the bolded is magic nuke

Thank you for the correction.

After all this time not one clear concise controlled demolition explanation.

There are many unclear and imprecise CD claims though

There are. It just splits the CD explanation into many parts. Prager left AE911T after Gage, et.al. could not agree on nukes. Nail in the coffin was Prager insisting on the mini nukes with NO nanothermite. Gage/Jones says the evidence shows nanothermite and No nukes.

Even the CD supporters cannot agree. Just maybe it is because they are all wrong.
