EXCLUSIVE: Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia
Hezbollah Training Also Linked to Iraq Violence

WASHINGTON, Nov. 30, 2006 — U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.

This suggests, say the sources, that the material is going directly from Iranian factories to Shia militias, rather than taking a roundabout path through the black market. "There is no way this could be done without (Iranian) government approval," says a senior official.

Iranian-made munitions found in Iraq include advanced IEDs designed to pierce armor and anti-tank weapons. U.S. intelligence believes the weapons have been supplied to Iraq's growing Shia militias from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which is also believed to be training Iraqi militia fighters in Iran.

Evidence is mounting, too, that the most powerful militia in Iraq, Moktada al-Sadr's Mahdi army, is receiving training support from the Iranian-backed terrorists of Hezbollah.

Two senior U.S. defense officials confirmed to ABC News earlier reports that fighters from the Mahdi army have traveled to Lebanon to receive training from Hezbollah.

And this is who we are supposed to cut a deal with? Now I know why people think that Iran can help stop the violence, because they're the ones behind it to begin with. We should not be negotiating with Iran we should be striking them with precision missiles for supporting the enemies of our nation and supplying them with the IED's that are killing our troops and Iraqi civilians!!!

This is some pretty serious news. I honestly have no idea how we're going to respond to this, or what the smartest decision is. Ugh.

I wonder if they learned that lil' trick from us? Can anyone say Sandinista's?

I say we just nuke 'em all and let Allah sort 'em out.

We've known this since March now we've just got undeniable proof:

EXCLUSIVE: Iraq Weapons -- Made in Iran?

March 6, 2006 — U.S. military and intelligence officials tell ABC News that they have caught shipments of deadly new bombs at the Iran-Iraq border.
They are a very nasty piece of business, capable of penetrating U.S. troops' strongest armor.

What the United States says links them to Iran are tell-tale manufacturing signatures — certain types of machine-shop welds and material indicating they are built by the same bomb factory.

"The signature is the same because they are exactly the same in production," says explosives expert Kevin Barry. "So it's the same make and model."

U.S. officials say roadside bomb attacks against American forces in Iraq have become much more deadly as more and more of the Iran-designed and Iran-produced bombs have been smuggled in from the country since last October.

"I think the evidence is strong that the Iranian government is making these IEDs, and the Iranian government is sending them across the border and they are killing U.S. troops once they get there," says Richard Clarke, former White House counterterrorism chief and an ABC News consultant. "I think it's very hard to escape the conclusion that, in all probability, the Iranian government is knowingly killing U.S. troops."

Maybe some more sanctions are in order

It's time to march our armies west from Afghanistan and east from Iraq to take out this looming threat that we will have to confront sooner or later anyways only the longer we stall the longer they have to build the bomb.

People like to compare this war to Vietnam, well then they should learn the lessons of Vietnam if we would have struck at Laos and took cut off the Ho Chi Minh Trail then we would have won that war don't take my word for it though:

Q: How could America have won the war?

A: "Cut the Ho Chi Minh trail inside Laos. If Johnson had granted [Gen. William] Westmoreland's requests to enter Laos and block the Ho Chi Minh trail, Hanoi could not have won the war." -- General Bui Tin North Vietnamese Army

Yup.Figures.We already knew this but now it's just be confirmed even more.So much for spreading freedom in the middle east with America. He critisizes our nation and then lies in a letter to us correct? Good guy, and we should listen to him right?

Maybe some more sanctions are in order

:rofl in another thread about "what is the Dem plan" a Dem says we should be LIFTING the sanctions on the Iranians and be thier friends of course then he turns around and says else we should invade them.

Go figger

WOW a shocker!!! :spin:

Not that Iran supplied arms and training to anti Saddam forces for decades would have given any hint whatsoever that Iran had influence in Iraq and supported certain groups with weapons, money and training...

For peak sake, we knew Iran was involved in Iraq before Bush and Co invaded the bloody place, and do you expect Iran to back out because of that? Yea right, Saddam is gone, so now we have no reason to be in Iraq.. other than the tradidtiona ties, lust of for more power and of ofcourse that the "great satan" is there now instead of Saddam.. naw we got no reason to do anything in Iraq..

How is it that Bush and Co and thier supporters are frankly so bloody ignorant on some issues... is it by choice or by political brainwashing?

And your point is? The fact of the matter is that Iran is supplying the IEDs to the insurgency and killing our troops along with Iraqi civilians it's high time to march our troops west from Afghanistan and East from Iraq remove these Persian tyrants from power once and for all!!!

It wouldn't be with any of those arms Robert Gates sold them during Iran-Conta, would it?

Umm big, big, big duh.

All of the major Iraqi opposition parties were harbored and supported by Iran for decades. Now that these parties are merely the major Iraqi political parties (no longer 'opposition' parties), it's entirely predictable that Iraq would still be helping them.

The distinction that has somehow (and we'll never know how) gotten blurred is that the violence these militias are primarily responsible for is Iraqi-on-Iraqi violence.

Iran is not using the Iraqi Daawa party and SCIRI et al to wage a proxy battle with the US as some fear-mongering, truth obscuring, chicken-littles in the punditry would like for us to believe. These are the very parties who make up the newly elected Iraqi govt.

Iran wants to have a say in what Iraq becomes. Iraq wants an Iraq that's stable enough to be a profitable market for Iranian goods, but not so well off that it is a rival for regional power.

You're always such the joker.

.

Umm you're the one obscuring the truth, the Iranians are building the advanced IED's which are being used to kill U.S. soldiers, fighting a proxy war with the U.S. is exactly what they're doing.

If we pull our troops out of Iraq, they wouldn't be dying from IED's.

We knew it without proof, man we are awesome, just like we knew about those WMDs. If we didn't invade countries based on what we 'know' we wouldn't be where we are. For instance, we wouldn't be faced with yet another hostile nation attempting to covertly kill our troops.
